Description of the composition

The composition of Black Tulip unfolds as a living composition, where notes flow without rush and without gaps. The creative approach of Atelier Bloem is evident in the pacing of the notes and the overall aesthetic. No excess details, only what works, and the structure feels complete all the way through. Eau de parfum keeps the depth and body this composition needs.

The accord architecture is driven by these accords: Citrus, Floral, Musc and Wood with each one in a clear role. Background accords such as Amber add depth to the backdrop. The stylistic positioning is unisex, which sharpens how the fragrance is perceived.

As soon as the fragrance opens you meet sparkling citrus first notes: Bergamot, Freesia and Ivy.

When the opening settles you detect Sacred Reytingia, Tulip and Violet carrying a harmonious floral direction.

From the group perspective the profile is anchored in Citrus, Floral, Green and Ambery. It also reaches into Wood, Musk and Whiteflower. Within olfactory families the composition sits in Floral and Wood.

In summary Black Tulip holds a coherent structure — the first stage creates momentum, the central phase adds depth, while the drydown anchors the memory. This is the type of composition best experienced in wear.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Very conspicuous

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

The tulip, it seems to me, has no scent at all. Only its black core is felt, and even then, with a light sweetish hint. This perfume reminds me more of freshly cut greens and wood, but there's no actual tulip in it 😔
