Francis Kurkdjian is not just a perfumer, but a true legend of modern perfumery, whose name has become synonymous with sophistication and commercial success. Born in Paris in 1969 into an Armenian family, he dreamed of a career in ballet, but fate had other plans. After failing the entrance exam to the Paris Opera Ballet School, he found his true calling in the world of fragrances, enrolling in the prestigious ISIPCA school. At the age of 24, while working for Quest International, he created a fragrance that changed the rules of the game in men's perfumery — Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male. Francis then gave the world the fresh and affordable Elizabeth Arden Green Tea, and created the exquisite and complex Cologne Blanche and Eau Noire for Dior. Kirkjian's portfolio is an encyclopedia of modern perfumery. He became the author of iconic fragrances for Narciso Rodriguez, creating the sensual icon of the 2000s, Narciso Rodriguez For Her, and its male counterparts. He breathed new life into Lancôme with the fragrance Miracle Homme and reimagined the Yves Saint Laurent classic in Kouros Eau d'Ete. Burberry trusted his talent to create the flagship My Burberry and the fashionable Burberry Her, as did Kenzo for the eccentric Kenzo World.

The birth of a perfume legend: Maison Francis Kurkdjian

In 2009, Francis teamed up with business partner Marc Chaya to found his own niche manufacturing company, Maison Francis Kurkdjian. This step allowed him to realize his most daring creative ideas. The phenomenon of Baccarat Rouge 540 was the perfect proof. This fragrance, with its unique notes of saffron, jasmine, and ambergris, sparked heated debate, broke all sales records, and spawned countless imitations, becoming a true cultural phenomenon.
