Description of the composition

The note pyramid of Cathay is shaped as a layered story, where notes flow with precision and warmth. The signature of Mr. Gladstone comes through in the pacing of the notes and the overall aesthetic. Nothing here feels random, and the fragrance holds its character from opening to trail.

Without strict stage separation the opening appears as one connected movement with a warm incense mood: Amber, Honey, Mandarin, Sandalwood, Vanilla and musk. In this case 6 notes act as one voice, building enveloping resinous depth that keeps the opening compact and balanced.

The middle and base stages are perceived as a gradual shift without abrupt breaks, which gives the structure continuity.

The accord architecture is built around these accords: Citrus, Gourmet, Musc and Wood forming a compact and readable structure. Secondary accord layers such as Spicy and Mineral add depth to the backdrop.
