Character and History of the Fragrance

Plume Impression Onda d'Oro is a unisex eau de parfum released in 2024 by the French niche house Plume Impression.

The fragrance belongs to the leather family and appeals to those who appreciate expressive compositions with a refined, slightly mysterious character.

The name Onda d'Oro can be read as “golden wave”—an apt metaphor for a composition where dense amber and balsamic nuances meet the cool powderiness of iris and the texture of leather.

Released in 2024, it continues the aesthetic of the brand founded in France in 2019 by Austrian-born Sabine Schaffer.

Olfactive Profile and Development

Amber, labdanum, iris and a leather accord lie at the heart of the composition.

The opening feels rich and warm: the amber tone quickly blends with the honeyed, resinous depth of labdanum, creating a striking first impression.

As it develops, the composition becomes softer and more refined.

Powdery-floral iris adds a dry elegance, while leather creates a distinctive contrast—smooth, warm and slightly dramatic at once.

Overall, Onda d'Oro reveals amber, balsamic, floral and leathery nuances.

Wearability and Sillage

Onda d'Oro is presented as a unisex fragrance, so its character is not tied to any particular gender.

It will especially appeal to those looking not for sweet florals, but for a more composed and prestigious perfume with a leather accent, a powdery nuance and a warm, resinous base.

The fragrance has noticeable sillage: it makes its presence known, yet develops most interestingly in motion and on warm skin.

This eau de parfum is suitable for cooler seasons, evening outings, professional settings and occasions when you want to add definition to your look without excessive volume.

For application to the skin, 1–2 sprays are enough for the amber-leather accord to unfold gradually while retaining its depth.

1–2 sprays are also recommended on clothing; choose the distance carefully and apply to an inconspicuous area of the fabric so that the fragrance settles into a soft trail.

The Perfumer and the Brand's Style

The composition was created by Alexis Dadier.

His work on Onda d'Oro is expressed through the contrast between rounded amber, resinous labdanum, powdery iris and the texture of leather: the fragrance does not strive to be simple, but unfolds gradually, shifting in mood from warm and dense to drier and more elegant.

For Plume Impression, this release feels like a confident continuation of the brand's niche line: Onda d'Oro demonstrates how an expressive idea can remain versatile enough for different styles.

If you are drawn to leather fragrances, consider Memo Italian Leather as your next discovery. It is an independent composition, but also worth exploring to compare its character and texture.

Note Pyramid

The top notes of Onda d'Oro feature amber and labdanum, creating a warm, resinous and rich opening.

At the heart of the composition, iris and a leather accord unfold. Iris adds a powdery dryness and elegance, while leather emphasizes the fragrance's richness and character.

A separate base pyramid is not specified in the available data, so the bottom accord is not listed separately.

The full list of notes also includes amber, iris, labdanum and a leather accord—a combination that creates an amber-balsamic, floral and leathery profile.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

I really liked the new Plume Impression. The main things I smell are rough leather and iris reminiscent of lipstick. At first it's bright and intense, then becomes softer. A honey-amber note appears in the base. Although the pyramids differ, besides the iris there is something in common with Splendida Iris D'or by Bvlgari
