Fragrance information:

Shirley May Breath — a citrus-floral mood

Shirley May Breath is an eau de toilette for women with a light, fresh and noticeable character.

The composition combines citrus and floral nuances, creating a cheerful, airy and highly versatile impression.

This fragrance is for those who enjoy a clean, sparkling scent without complex layering and prefer a perfume that immediately creates a feeling of being well-groomed.

The release belongs to Shirley May, a perfume house founded in 2009 in the United Arab Emirates.

The brand’s aesthetic brings Eastern sophistication together with a global vision of modern beauty, and Shirley May Breath continues this direction in a lighter, more effortless style.

Character and development

The fragrance is built around a citrus accord and floral notes.

This combination is usually perceived as fresh, sunny and energetic: the citrus side adds sparkle to the composition, while the floral side brings softness and a feminine touch.

The exact top, heart and base notes of Shirley May Breath have not been specified, so it is more accurate to speak of its overall olfactory direction rather than a detailed fragrance pyramid.

According to the available information, the fragrance belongs to the citrus and floral groups, as well as to the aromatic family.

On the skin, it may be especially expressive during the first few hours, when the fresh accord reinforces a feeling of cleanliness and lightness.

Longevity, sillage and dosage

Shirley May Breath is released as an eau de toilette, yet its sillage is described as very strong.

This combination makes the fragrance more noticeable than one might expect from a classic light citrus scent, so it is best to start with a small amount.

The manufacturer has not specified the exact recommended number of sprays for skin and clothing.

A practical approach is to apply one or two sprays to pulse points and assess the intensity after a few minutes. On clothing, it is best to apply the fragrance carefully from a distance, having first checked how the fabric reacts.

When and for whom the fragrance is suitable

Shirley May Breath is positioned as a women’s fragrance.

Its citrus-floral character is especially suitable for daytime, warm weather, walks, work, study or an informal gathering. However, its very strong sillage makes dosage worth considering in enclosed spaces.

The fragrance will appeal to fans of fresh compositions with a feminine mood and a noticeable presence.

It may appeal to those looking not for a heavy evening perfume, but for an expressive everyday option that easily fits an active lifestyle and leaves a vivid impression.

Similar fragrances

For comparison, consider Marc Jacobs Daisy Love Sunshine, as well as Hermès Eau Claire des Merveilles and Monotheme Fine Fragrances Venezia Pompelmo.

These fragrances share an interest in a fresh, bright and airy scent profile, although the mood and balance of accords differ from one release to another.

The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

Sugary synthetic citrus mixed with flowers. It smells boring and doesn't grab me at all. These fragrances were popular at our school: cheap, sweet and without much character

What a delight this Shirley May is! I'd never come across this brand's fragrances before, then I happened to see them in a small provincial store. Almost every scent there turned out to be a successful budget find. I love citrus, and here they are bright and fresh, with an ozonic tint and some pink flowers. Maybe rose, I couldn't tell for sure. No complex transitions, just pleasant and easy
