Ohoud by Swiss Arabian: Spicy-Woody Magic of the East

Ohoud by Swiss Arabian, released in 2014, is a true olfactory bridge between Europe and the Middle East.

Presented in an eau de parfum concentration, it is positioned as a men's fragrance, yet its versatility can also captivate women who appreciate bold compositions.

The history of Swiss Arabian began in 1974, when Swiss technology met the Arabic perfumery tradition.

Since then, the house has been renowned for creating rich, long-lasting fragrances that exude luxury and exoticism.

Ohoud is a vivid reflection of this philosophy: it belongs to the spicy and woody fragrance families, while its prominent trail leaves an unforgettable impression.

If you enjoy Dior Addict Eau Sensuelle, Mauboussin Promise Me, or Molton Brown Celestial Maracuja, Ohoud is sure to appeal to you.

It is an ideal choice for evening occasions when you want to surround yourself with warmth, spices, and precious woods. Learn more about purchasing it on the official website.

Perfume information

Description of the composition

The Ohoud composition unfolds like an oriental tale. It opens with sparkling aldehydes, a citrus accord, delicate rose, and spicy saffron.

At its heart are velvety coumarin, geranium, softly sweet heliotrope, warming nutmeg, and another touch of rose.

The base combines resinous labdanum, noble oud, and earthy patchouli, creating a deep, sensual trail.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

This fragrance really packs a punch, and the spices, which seem gentle at first, get more and more assertive over time. And then there's this weird feeling - suddenly it starts smelling like iodine. How is that even possible? 🤔

The scent is just poisonous. There's so much going on in it, not a single note stays in the background, everything sounds very bright and aggressive. I already thought nothing could be worse than the dentist, but here it is, surprise. Aldehydes, saffron, and nutmeg create a feeling of something clanging and even murderous. If you do decide to try it, it's better to apply it to something far away from you, not on yourself 😅
