Fragrance information:

Vanessa Somerset Design Geranium is a vibrant example of niche perfumery, released in 2015.

Created by the talented perfumer Vanessa Somerset, it is a unisex fragrance with a very strong sillage.

The Vanessa Somerset Design brand originates from the United States and specializes in natural fragrances, with Geranium becoming one of the gems of its collection.

Fragrance Families and Character

This perfume belongs to the floral and aromatic fragrance families.

This makes it versatile: it works beautifully in every season, but truly comes alive on warm days, bringing a sense of freshness and natural harmony.

Geranium is an ideal choice for those who appreciate eco-chic and clean lines in olfactory compositions.

History and Inspiration

Vanessa Somerset is one of those perfumers who works exclusively with natural ingredients.

Her approach to creating fragrances resembles the art of painting: she blends pure notes to convey a mood and an image. Geranium was conceived as a hymn to nature, its generosity, and its beauty.

Every component here is more than just an accord—it is part of an entire story told through scent.

Who It Is For and How to Wear It

Thanks to its unisex positioning, this fragrance suits anyone who is not afraid to experiment and enjoys unconventional combinations. It is versatile across the seasons, from a summer midday to a spring morning.

The sillage is very strong, so 2–3 sprays are enough to make a vivid impression. Wear it on your skin or clothing—it develops with equal elegance either way.

Similar Fragrances

If you have fallen in love with Geranium, consider Serge Lutens La Fille de Berlin—it is also built around rose and geranium, but with a more dramatic character.

Oriflame DeMarco offers a spicy, masculine character, while Demeter Vintage Naturals 2009 Mimosa is a softer, powdery alternative.

Each of these fragrances echoes Geranium in mood or notes while retaining its own distinct personality.

Description of the composition

The fragrance pyramid is built on contrasts and harmony. The top notes — Lime and Lily — create a sparkling, fresh opening with citrusy tartness and a delicate floral touch.

At the heart, Geranium and Palmarosa unfold: spicy, slightly minty geranium blends with the herbaceous, rosy nuances of palmarosa, creating a rich green bouquet.

The base — Patchouli — adds a warm, earthy depth that gently anchors the entire composition, leaving a long, elegant trail.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Very conspicuous

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

Cold geranium with lemons and a lily that's even bitter. It reminds me of cologne, like something from men's cosmetics or shaving foam. It's definitely not for me
