Supermodel Tyra Banks is the creator of the show, serving as host, producer, and head judge. The first season premiered in May 2003 on UPN and became the network's highest-rated show. Since 2006, the show has aired on The CW Television Network. The format was slightly modified in 2011. In autumn 2011, the 17th season featured former contestants who were most memorable to viewers from past seasons.
