American brand Lilly Pulitzer produces fashionable clothing and accessories. The founder of the brand is Lilly Pulitzer, who was born in the small town of Roslyn, New York. She dropped out of school without a diploma and became a midwife assistant. In 1950, Lilly eloped with Peter Pulitzer to Florida, where they settled in Palm Beach and had three children. Peter owned several citrus groves, so Lilly started a small family business selling juice on the city streets. The business brought in a good income, but one problem plagued Lilly: stubborn stains on her clothes. She asked her tailor to sew a dress from colorful cotton so that the stains would remain unnoticed.

Soon, the fame of these floral dresses overshadowed the juices themselves, and the enterprising woman began selling dresses instead of citrus drinks. Jackie Kennedy, the First Lady of America and a former classmate of Lilly, loved the designer's vibrant, bright styles. Fashion magazine Life Magazine once published a photo of Jackie Kennedy wearing one of these dresses.
