Smith & Wesson Arms was founded back in 1852. It was opened by Horace Smith and Daniel Wesson. They settled in Norwich, Connecticut. Their gun shop gained popularity thanks to a groundbreaking for its time rapid-fire multi-shot pistol with a cylindrical magazine, almost instantaneous.

True, the company soon faced financial problems. They were resolved with the help of a sponsor whose surname later became no less famous — Oliver Winchester.

Soon the union fell apart and the shares completely passed into Winchester's hands. Subsequently, the company's business went excellently almost all the time. After all, there were plenty of wars in history.

The only time when the company's financial condition faltered was the end of the twentieth century, when a law was passed in the US tightening the law on the storage and use of weapons. But since the sad day of September 11, 2001, sales have skyrocketed and remain very high to this day.
