Siete Machos — a cosmetic brand from Mexico. Founded in 1930 by Spanish immigrants, the Gutierrez brothers, who opened a shop in Mexico City selling perfumes, talcum powders, and body lotions. The brand was known for its plant-based and essential oil products created according to traditional recipes of indigenous North American peoples. The store was located at Corregidor Street, 16.
At that time, the brothers worked with a perfumer whose name has not survived to this day. He combined the notes of seven flowers and herbs, and thus was born the cologne Siete Machos — a fragrance that in the following decades became iconic on the Mexican market among both men and women.
Little is known about the further development of the brand. The Siete Machos composition remained its signature: despite the company's low commercial status, the cologne was so popular that, according to several sources, counterfeits were actively produced for a time. The fragrance is still produced; the line includes eau de toilette, eau de parfum, and aftershave lotion concentrations. The brand maintains an occult, mystical image and often refers to indigenous pagan beliefs: for example, the Siete Machos compositions, which according to the creators have magical properties, are recommended to be applied to the entire body and also sprayed on window and door openings for protective purposes.
Today, the brand is managed by the Nelles family and, in addition to the perfume line, produces cosmetic collections. The rights holder is the Mexican manufacturer Urania.
