Amanda Lepore is a well-known American model, freak diva, and symbol for transsexuals. She gained fame for her outrageous behavior, modeling, business skills, and musical activities. She has been the face of advertising for Mego Jeans, Heatherette, CAMP Cosmetics, Swatch, and many other brands. During Fashion Week, she was chosen several times. As a regular client, Lepore was featured in David LaChapelle’s work.
Lepore was born male in New Jersey. She wanted to change gender as early as age 11, when she saw a program about it on television. She began designing costumes for dancers at a local club at age 15. At that time, she received hormones from underage transsexuals, and her body began to change. On the recommendation of a mentor, she went to a psychiatrist, where Lepore was identified as a transsexual. The psychiatrist informed her parents and helped her obtain hormones legally. Today, Lepore lives permanently in New York and works as a night hostess in many famous city clubs. The fragrance Amanda, created in 2008, was released in a limited edition of 5,000 bottles. Each bottle is adorned with over a thousand Swarovski crystals and has a pink satin atomizer. The bottles are packaged in a black gift box, which includes a booklet with signed photographs by Mrs. Lepore.
