Christophe Lodaud is a perfumer-scientist, rebel, and visionary whose career blurs the lines between chemistry, art, and commerce. Born in France in 1969, he showed genius in the exact sciences from a young age, winning the national chemistry competition. His path to perfumery began not in the flower fields of Grasse, but in the laboratories of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard, which laid the unique analytical foundation for his future creativity.

The path from scientist to star perfumer

Lodamiel's professional development took place among the giants of the industry: first at Procter & Gamble, where he received an award for innovation in aroma chemistry, and then at International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF). There, he honed his skills under the guidance of legends such as Pierre Bourdon and Sophie Groysman. This unique synthesis of a scientific approach and apprenticeship with the great "noses" shaped his bold, conceptual style.

Iconic fragrances and collaborations with global brands

Christophe Lodaud's name is behind some of the most recognizable and successful fragrances of the turn of the millennium. He is the co-creator of the iconic Ralph Lauren Polo Blue, which became the benchmark for fresh men's fragrances for years to come. His genius also gave the world the incredibly popular Abercrombie & Fitch Fierce, a fragrance that defined the atmosphere of an entire generation. His portfolio also includes work for Estée Lauder, Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Kors, Clinique, and Trussardi, demonstrating incredible flexibility between mainstream and luxury.

Niche creativity and signature style

Lodamiel's true passion was revealed in niche perfumery, where he was given the freedom to experiment boldly. His long-standing collaboration with the Humiecki & Graef brand has produced a series of intellectual and emotional masterpieces, such as the melancholic Skarb, the delicate Nouveau-ne, and the daring Askew. His style is often provocative, deeply narrative, and masterful in its use of synthetic materials to represent abstract concepts: purity, memory, light.

Innovator and educator

Not limited to creating perfumes, Christophe Lodaud is a true innovator in the industry. He is the founder of the New York Academy of Perfume and Aromatics, where he shares his knowledge with the next generation. As head of the DreamAir studio, he continues to explore new forms of aromatic art, including olfactory installations and perfumery for spaces. His later works, such as the luxurious Grandiflora Saskia or the exquisite Lazarus Douvos Rose 1845, prove that his creative evolution continues unabated.

Christophe Lodaud is a rare type of creator who is equally brilliant at creating commercial bestsellers and complex niche works. His legacy is a bridge between science and emotion, pop culture and high art, which has forever changed the landscape of contemporary perfumery.
