A legend of 20th century perfumery

Guy Robert (1926-2012) is a name that sounds synonymous with elegance and impeccable taste in the world of fragrances. This outstanding "nose", whose creations defined the face of perfumery of the second half of the XX century, gave the world some of the most iconic and beloved perfumes. From the exquisite Hermès chypre Caleche to the luxurious Amouage Gold Woman, his legacy lives on in every bottle.

Perfumery roots from Grasse

Guy Robert was destined to be born into a family of hereditary perfumers from Grasse. His family owned a business producing perfumed raw materials, and his grandfather was even a mentor to the young François Coty. However, the key role in his path was played by his uncle, Henri Robert - the legendary perfumer of the Chanel house, the author of such masterpieces as Chanel - No. 19 and Chanel - Cristalle. It was under his guidance that Guy honed his skills.

From New York to his first triumphs

After World War II, Guy Robert went to New York, where he began his professional journey under his uncle's wing. His debut independent works were Hermès - Doblis for Hermès and Jean Patou - Lasso. But the real fame came to him in the early 1960s with two fragrances that have forever gone down in history: the floral masterpiece Rochas - Madame Rochas (1960) and the refined Hermès - Caleche (1961). These compositions not only became a trademark of the perfumer, but also style standards for a whole generation.

Men's classics and signature chypre

The year 1979 became incredibly fruitful for Guy Robert. He gave the world two iconic male compositions: elegant and restrained Hermès - Equipage and Gucci - Gucci Pour Homme 1976, which became a classic. The same year saw Dior - Dioressence - a sensual and complex chypre, which many consider one of his most virtuoso creations for the house of Dior.

The gold standard of luxury: Amouage Gold

In 1983, Guy Robert created a fragrance that he himself called the pinnacle of his work - Amouage - Gold Woman. This perfume, full of precious ingredients, was the debut for the niche house of Amouage and set an incredibly high standard of luxury. Later, in 1998, he complemented it with a male version - Amouage- Gold Man, proving that his talent knows no gender boundaries.

Inexhaustible inspiration and legacy

Even in his later years, Guy Robert continued to delight fans with new works, collaborating with a variety of brands. He created an updated version of his legendary Hermès Caleche Soie de Parfum, the sensual Elizabeth Taylor Black Pearls, and worked with houses such as Parfums Grès Paris, Menard and Sinfonia di Note. His perfumery dynasty was continued by his son, François Robert, author of Lanvin - Vetyver and the perfume for Les Parfums de Rosine.

Mentor, author and president

Having finished an active creative career, Guy Robert devoted himself to teaching a new generation of perfumers, passing on invaluable experience. In 2012, the year of his passing, his book "Les Sens du Parfum" was published, which became the final chord in the master's life. A former president of the French Society of Perfumers, he left behind not only fragrances, but a living intellectual legacy that continues to influence the industry.

Timeless classics in every bottle

Guy Robert's style is impeccable elegance, attention to detail and deep emotionality. His fragrances, from the delicate Coty - Muguet des Bois (created by his uncle Henri) to the powerful Amouage - Gold Man, continue to gather rave reviews and occupy high places in the ratings of favorite perfumes. They are not just perfumes, but true works of art that speak to us through time, confirming Guy Robert's status as a true legend.
