SIU Gigil — a gourmand story with a fruity accent

SIU Gigil is a women’s eau de parfum launched in 2023 by the Dutch brand SIU.

The brand specializes in women’s and unisex fragrances, while Gigil reveals its love for expressive, modern and mouthwatering compositions.

The fragrance combines floral, fruity and gourmand facets, making it especially appealing to those who enjoy noticeable sweet accords with a soft, sunny mood.

SIU Gigil was created by three perfumers: Maud Chabanis, Baptiste Jomot and Xavier Blaisot.

This collaborative authorship can be felt in the composition’s layered structure: a fresh opening gradually turns creamy and gourmand, then gains floral depth before ending in a warm amber-caramel veil.

How the fragrance unfolds

The SIU Gigil pyramid opens with a contrast between citrusy freshness and mouthwatering nuances.

Bergamot adds a light sparkle to the opening, while coffee, milk, milk chocolate and peach create a soft, almost dessert-like accord.

Together, they smell dimensional rather than flat: juicy fruit meets a creamy texture and a subtle coffee bitterness.

Jasmine and plum emerge at the heart of the composition.

Jasmine makes the fragrance airier and more feminine, while plum adds a dark fruity nuance and creates a beautiful transition from the sweet opening to the warm base.

Sandalwood supports this part of the fragrance with a smooth woody tone.

The finish is built around amber, caramel and solar notes. The base leaves a soft, warm and slightly honeyed impression on the skin, while caramel emphasizes the perfume’s gourmand character.

As a result, SIU Gigil smells cozy, seductive and noticeable, but never harsh or heavy.

Character, sillage and wearability

In terms of mood, this is a feminine fragrance for those who enjoy sweet fruity-floral compositions with creamy and dessert-like nuances.

Its character can be described as playful, sensual and sunny: it is easy to imagine Gigil on an evening stroll, a date, a get-together with friends or at a festive occasion.

Thanks to its combination of coffee, chocolate, fruits and amber, the fragrance is particularly expressive in cool weather.

SIU Gigil has moderate sillage: it is noticeable around the wearer without trying to fill the entire space.

One to two sprays are enough for the skin, allowing the fragrance to develop gradually while maintaining a comfortable intensity.

One to two sprays are also recommended for clothing, with the distance and amount adjusted to the fabric.

What to compare SIU Gigil with

If you would like to explore fragrances with a similar mood, take a look at Mugler Angel Collector 2019.

As with SIU Gigil, you may enjoy its pronounced sweetness and distinctive gourmand character, although Gigil comes across as creamier, fruitier and softer.

Selection Excellence No 5 and CFFC Fragrances Mystery Secret are also worth considering for comparison.

SIU Gigil is a good choice for those looking for more than just a sweet perfume: it offers a gradual evolution from bergamot freshness and a coffee-chocolate accord to a plum-and-jasmine heart and a warm caramel-amber base.

This modern feminine fragrance has a distinctive gourmand signature and can become a striking accent to an everyday or evening look.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. A juicy gourmand fragrance: coffee, peach jam and caramel syrup. Despite such a sweet presentation, it isn’t sticky, and it gets softer closer to the base. I’m especially glad there are no sharp, unpleasant notes here, the kind that often overload modern sweet compositions

Before testing, I decided this would be yet another sweet candy.<br><br>And I was almost right. At first, peach, milk, and chocolate mix interestingly.<br>The opening is dessert-like but quite unusual, and almost immediately a tart plum note appears. It becomes something like chocolate plum or chocolate-covered prune.<br><br>Luckily, the fruits keep it from turning sticky-sweet and smelling like a pastry shop. The balance stays between a tasty dessert and an adult perfume without childishness.<br><br>Peach opens up a little later, adding juiciness, as if fruit juice had been mixed with hot chocolate.<br><br>In the end, it's a dessert with character: sweet but not cloying, cozy but without overwhelming vanilla. Perfect for curling up under a blanket, eating something tasty, and leaving everyone alone

Gigil immediately reminded me of my favorite Messy Sexy: just as delicious, warm and incredibly cozy. But it smells different, sweeter yet without excessive stickiness, while the coffee note adds warmth. At the opening I get milk chocolate, coffee, peach and a touch of bergamot. It’s not caramel-like sweetness, but a neat coffee dessert with peach and dark chocolate. Sweet, but perfectly calm. Jasmine and sandalwood appear in the heart, making the fragrance more feminine and deeper, without letting it turn into candy. In the drydown it settles closer to the skin, becoming warm, slightly powdery and very soft. The caramel isn’t candied, but has a lightly salty nuance, like crème brûlée. It remains noticeable without becoming oppressive.<br><br>It’s best worn in cool weather and in the evening, when you want something sweet but not overwhelming. It doesn’t try to grab all the attention, it simply smells pleasant close to the skin, and that’s exactly what I like about it. Good longevity, moderate sillage.<br><br>For me, Gigil isn’t about ceremony or showing off status. It’s a warm, sweet fragrance for cold weather. Those who are usually cautious with gourmands but enjoy cozy, delicious compositions should give it a try. It may pleasantly surprise you.<br><br>I liked it. Very much 🤍

Caramel and tart plum get along beautifully here. Sweet, but not cloying, with a noticeable gourmand touch. The whole composition sits on a creamy base, like a body product. I couldn't find chocolate or cocoa, but the perfume is pleasant without them. Lasts about four hours, then stays close to the skin and smells like cream

This fragrance starts energetic, then becomes calm. It opens with juicy bergamot and bitter-fresh coffee, sharp and wonderfully clarifying. After a while jasmine softens the composition and gives it velvety smoothness.<br><br>The most beautiful part begins in the sillage. Milky sandalwood and warm amber gradually remove the coffee's sharpness, leaving a deep, comfortable scent. It evokes a quiet evening, warm skin, and peace. The transition from fresh opening to warm base is done very well

A very pleasant, warm and generous scent that instantly makes everything feel cozier.<br>At first I smell strong coffee with a slight smokiness, without sugar or milk. It lasts quite a while, then becomes softer: the coffee sharpness fades and thick hot chocolate appears. The peach is sweet and dessert-like, but not artificial, gradually blending with chocolate sauce. There’s also a distinct smell of boiled condensed milk. The scent is well made, full-bodied and soft. As someone who loves gourmands, I find the sweetness here perfectly comfortable

Unfortunately, I didn't smell plum or peach. To me, it's candy and fruit syrup. Yes, it isn't as sticky and cloying as many luxury fragrances, but all the other notes were drowned out by the sweetness. I tested it on skin and blotter several times. Not for me. I think sweet-fragrance lovers will enjoy it

It turned out to be too sweet and far too loud for me. It’ll probably feel nicer in cold weather, while in the heat it becomes downright cloying. But it will definitely find its fans: fruity sweetness is the main thing here, I simply prefer lighter fragrances)) The longevity is excellent and the sillage is noticeable! <br>Coffee and chocolate are only noticeable at the opening, then thick, almost syrupy fruits take over. Peach, plum and jasmine stand out the most. Everything is turned up to full volume, with no attempt to be subtle. A scent for those who like being noticed

A very alluring fragrance, yet also cozy and comforting. The note pyramid is interesting, every note has its place and contributes to the overall scent. I’d save it for evenings and dates. The chocolate and fruit blend together perfectly

A very pleasant sweet fragrance with a nineties vibe. Tart plum, light watery peach, salty caramel, while the chocolate veers into dark patchouli facets. All of this blends into a soft fruity scent that noticeably lifts the mood. At the very beginning, there’s also a little sour bergamot.<br>I really liked it. I love peaches 🍑

For me, this is an evening fragrance: sweet, dense and with spicy resinous facets. I smell liquorice and something syrupy and medicinal, while the plum gradually turns into grape. Vanilla and woody notes appear in the trail. Its mood reminds me of Christian Lacroix Nuit Avon

Out of the whole set, this is the only fragrance I marked as my kind of scent before even testing it. And that’s exactly how it turned out - the gourmand was my favorite. A very soft, cozy combination of cream and coffee. <br>I don’t notice apples, bergamot, freshness or peach on my skin. As it develops, I get milk chocolate, while the coffee note is quite prominent. The plum appears from time to time, but it’s hard to catch.<br>In style, Gigil really does remind me of Black Opium. But Black Opium is more boozy, bitter and liquorice-like to me, while this fragrance is calmer, gentler and softer.<br>The longevity is quite good, lasting more than five hours. Funny how at first it seems to disappear, and then suddenly starts leaving a noticeable trail<br>For now, this is my favorite from the whole line❤️

I've finally reached SIU Gigil. Caramel and vanilla are strongest for me here, while plum gives them a tart edge. In my mind, it evokes thick caramel from a chocolate bar. I don't directly smell milk chocolate, though there is a slight milky softness. Sometimes a small alcoholic note appears; I still haven't found the coffee. The gourmand accord is rounded, smooth, and sweet.<br><br>The comparison with Lattafa Teriaq Intense doesn't resonate with me. They share bergamot, amber, and a plum theme, but their character is completely different. Gigil works when you want something sweet without cloying sweetness or excessive volume. To me it's very feminine; I immediately picture a well-groomed girl with long hair.<br><br>I think those around you will like it too, and compliments are quite possible

This kind of sweet gourmand scent really knows how to improve your mood. <br><br>At first I smell milk, coffee with a delicate foam, sweets and plum like jam. White jasmine lifts the composition a little and keeps it from becoming completely sticky. <br><br>In mood, it sits close to Black Opium.<br><br>Some fragrances become permanently tied to a certain feeling. That happened to me with Black Opium.<br>One winter, I was freezing at a bus stop after work, the bus was delayed and my mood was awful. I applied Black Opium from a little bottle, and it got much easier. In my head, I was no longer standing in an old coat in the cold, but getting ready for a beautiful evening somewhere warm, with bright lights, coffee and sweets. <br><br>That’s why I immediately respond especially well to all similar coffee-and-sweet fragrances. <br><br>Gigil is dressy, sweet, soft and very gourmand. Somehow, it makes it difficult to stay sad for long or even notice the cold

This is probably my absolute favorite from the whole SIU line! After the first spray I immediately thought: "How delicious!🥰"<br>The opening is bright, juicy and fruity. I can barely pick up the plum, but there are beautiful, lively fruits without any plastic or chemical feel. It has something in common with Prada Paradoxe Intense: if you spray Prada on your hair and let it settle for ten hours, you get a similar mood. I hardly ever wear Prada itself because it’s too dense and persistent, while Gigil would easily work for everyday wear and won’t suffocate everyone around you. It’s just a shame that the longevity is average here too, like with the other fragrances in the line
