Among his first significant works was a revision of the classic Madame de Carven fragrance, but the real breakthrough that made him famous was the bold and sensual Obsession composition for Calvin Klein, released in 1985. During the same period, he created the elegant Donna for Trussardi and the fresh but seductive Envy for Men for Gucci.

In the 2000s, his signature style became even more multifaceted. He updated the classics, creating light variations on the theme of the legendary L'Air du Temps, and also presented the refreshing masterpiece Concentre d'Orange Verte for Hermès. Other iconic works of this decade include the exquisite Celine, the luxurious Cologne Grand Luxe for Fragonard, and the romantic Deci Delà for Nina Ricci.
