Weddings live on not only in photographs. They linger in the little things: the whispers of guests, ...
Michel Girard is a perfumer whose story proves that passion for fragrances can be inherited. He was born in Grasse, the heart of the world's perfumery, and belongs to the third generation of a family of perfumers. It is not just a profession, but his vocation, imbibed with his mother's milk and the air perfumed with the scents of jasmine and rose. His path did not start immediately behind the perfume organ: he studied management, which later helped him to feel the market subtly. He began his professional journey at Robertet, and in 1986 he moved to Quest International, where he earned the title of "Nose" - a master capable of creating fragrances for the world's fashion houses.
Michel Girard's style is an amazing ability to create accessible, yet profound and memorable fragrances that become bestsellers. His handwriting is a balance between mass appeal and creative sincerity. He masterfully works with both luxury brands and democratic brands, creating compositions that are recognized by millions.
One of his most high-profile successes is Paco Rabanne's fragrance 1 Million, created in tandem with other masters in 2008. This bold, energetic perfume instantly became a cult and one of the main male hits of the 2000s. For the female audience, he created an equally significant fragrance Jennifer Lopez - Still (2003), which remained a commercial triumph for many years. It was Girard who laid the foundation for Burberry's successful Touch For Women line, and then created its sensual variations - Tender Touch and tender Baby Touch.
Michel Girard's portfolio is a real map of the perfume industry. He has created with equal success for legendary French houses, British classics and young niche brands. His work can be found in the collections of Givenchy (Extravagance D'Amarige), Dolce & Gabbana (The One Rose and The One Eau de Toilette), Nina Ricci (L`Air) and Yves Saint Laurent (Kouros Silver).
His talent was also sought after in the more affordable segment, where he created popular fragrances for Zara and infused natural beauty into compositions for Yves Rocher (Naturelle). He proved his versatility by working on fragrances for L`Occitane en Provence and even creating compositions for niche houses such as Ex Nihilo and Dueto Parfums.
In 2007, Michel Girard moved to perfume ingredient giant Givaudan, where he continues to share his expertise. His contribution is not only dozens of successful fragrances, but also the ability to combine commercial success with creative expression. He continues to delight fans with new works, remaining one of those masters whose perfumes become part of the personal stories of people around the world.
