Scent as part of identity: finding your perfume signature
There are people we recognize before we see them. They are still in the hallway, but their familiar ...
Veronique Niberg is a name that is synonymous with versatility and commercial success in the world of fragrances. This talented perfumer, who also serves as vice president of the creative department at Mane, has proven that it is possible to work brilliantly in a wide variety of segments, from luxury niches to popular mass-market brands. Her story began in the south of France, in picturesque Provence, whose aromatic landscapes may have instilled in her a first love for scents.
Veronique's desire to understand the nature of things led her to study chemistry and agrochemistry. After graduating from the Polytechnic University of Toulouse in 2000, she took a decisive step by joining the perfume industry giant IFF. Starting out coordinating production, she quickly immersed herself in the amazing world of perfume creation, undergoing professional training and earning the title of junior perfumer within three years. By 2008, she had officially joined the IFF team of perfumers, gaining the right to work on projects for major brands.
Veronique Niberg's portfolio is a veritable encyclopedia of successful fragrances from the last two decades. One of her first significant works, created in collaboration with others, was the delicate and romantic Lancôme - Tresor In Love, which won the hearts of fans of the famous fashion house. However, the real breakthrough that made her name known throughout the world was the powerful and charismatic Paco Rabanne - Invictus, a new flagship men's fragrance, which she worked on as part of a team of stellar colleagues.
Her talent for creating memorable, emotional compositions has been evident in a wide variety of projects. For Mugler, she presented a refreshing interpretation of the iconic fragrance Alien Eau Extraordinaire. In the niche segment, she created an exquisite trio for the Burdin house: Paris Minuit 2014, Tinoutcha, and Les Beaux Jours 2014. And for Giorgio Armani, she embodied the refined philosophy of the Prive line in the tea accords of the Thé Yulong and Thé Yulong Soie de Nacre fragrances.
Veronique Nyberg's style is difficult to define in a single phrase — and that is her strength. She masterfully balances between bright commercial aesthetics, as in the paired fragrances Police - To Be Miss Beat and Mr Beat, and the refined poetry of niche compositions. Her signature style is recognizable by its clear structure, impeccable balance of accords, and ability to capture the very spirit of the brand she works for.
Throughout her career, she has collaborated with an impressive list of houses, creating fragrances for Lancôme, Giorgio Armani, Mugler, Paco Rabanne, Calvin Klein, as well as affordable luxury brands such as Yves Rocher, Oriflame, and Roger & Gallet. This wide range confirms her reputation as an exceptionally versatile and sought-after master.
Her move to Mane in 2014 to a senior management position opened a new chapter in Veronique Nyberg's career, allowing her to influence not only the creation of individual fragrances, but also creative strategies as a whole. Her works, such as the playful Carven - Dans Ma Bulle and the sensual Jimmy Choo - Jimmy Choo Exotic, regularly top user ratings and are discussed in perfume communities. Veronique Nyberg continues to be one of the most influential and prolific figures in the industry, whose fragrances speak to millions of people in the language of emotions and memories.
