Fragrance information:

In the world of perfumery, where every fragrance is a story, Byredo stands out for its ability to turn memories into art.

In 2016, the brand gifted us Belle de Tanger, a perfume that transports us to the sunny orange groves of Tangier, filling the space with warmth and emotion.

This unisex fragrance, released in 2016, quickly won the hearts of those seeking not just a scent, but a whole journey.

Inspired by the Moroccan sun, it reflects Byredo's philosophy—the balance between minimalism and depth, creating a unique experience for every wearer.

Identity and History of Belle de Tanger

Belle de Tanger by Byredo is more than just a perfume; it's an ode to the warmth and light of North Africa.

Released in 2016, it became part of the brand's legacy, known for its emotional and artistic compositions.

Although the fragrance does not belong to a specific collection, it stands alone, embodying the spirit of adventure and nostalgia.

Its name, translating to "Beauty of Tangier," hints at the Mediterranean charm felt from the first spritz.

This release solidified Byredo's reputation as a creator of universal fragrances, suitable for those who appreciate subtle note interplay and deep associations.

Positioning: A Unisex Fragrance with a Warm Character

Belle de Tanger is positioned as a unisex fragrance, making it ideal for any gender seeking harmony and coziness.

At its core is an eau de parfum, which ensures longevity and richness, unfolding gradually throughout the day.

A middle sillage creates an intimate atmosphere, not overwhelming others, but softly enveloping them with warm notes.

The fragrance is perfect for cool evenings or winter days, when you want to add a bit of sunlight and comfort to life.

It is complimentary and recognizable, easily pairing with everyday and more formal styles, making it a faithful companion in various scenarios.

Creator and Philosophy of Byredo

Behind the creation of Belle de Tanger stands Ben Gorham, the founder and creative director of Byredo, whose unique approach to perfumery combines art, memory, and emotion.

His experience as a former professional basketball player and artist brought a fresh perspective to the brand, where every fragrance is a tale.

In this perfume, Gorham masterfully conveyed the feeling of the Mediterranean breeze and orange groves, demonstrating how perfumery can be a form of self-expression.

His work on Belle de Tanger highlights Byredo's influence on the industry, where the brand has become a symbol of modern elegance and emotional depth.

Perfume information

Description of the composition

The note pyramid of Belle de Tanger begins its journey with a vibrant chord of bitter orange (bigaradia), which offers instant freshness and citrus energy, reminiscent of the sun of Tangier.

At the heart of the fragrance, delicate floral notes unfold: iris adds a powdery elegance, while violet brings subtle sweetness and romance, creating a warm and cozy bouquet.

The base completes the composition with cashmeran, a musky note that envelops the skin in a soft, almost velvety trail, solidifying the feeling of comfort and depth.

This harmony of notes from citrus, floral, and musky groups smoothly transitions from initial vitality to tender persistence, making the fragrance multifaceted and memorable.

Each layer unfolds gradually, offering a unique experience that changes depending on skin and mood.

The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

How simple it is in composition, yet it smells absolutely amazing! Flowers with citrus notes and a woody base create an incredible atmosphere. This fragrance is so captivating, cozy, and feels like a hug. It really touches the soul! I love it so much!

The scent isn't bad, but there's nothing new about it. I've smelled many similar options before, it even feels like something from a mass-market or network brand. Overall, it's perfectly fine for everyday wear, suitable for the office )

I can't say this scent impressed me. Powder, yes, but with some nasty bitterness that just presses on the brain. The woody base doesn't save the situation, it only adds heaviness. In the end, it turns out not elegant, but rather oppressive. I don't recommend it!!

It made no impression at all. Too simple. Ordinary powder with a dusty nuance and dry woody notes that overpower a sharp, cologne-like citrus. It's precisely these citrus accents that didn't work for me

This fragrance has too much cashmeran and iris for my taste. It turns out bitter and dusty, not very pleasant. Overall, it's powdery-citrusy. I like the orange notes at the start, but then it's not as interesting 😕

The scent, if you don't look at the brand and price, really evokes positive emotions. It's cozy, restrained, a little dry, but at the same time it doesn't overwhelm, rather it fills the space with air. However, as soon as I remember its cost, I start to notice flaws. It immediately seems like it doesn't justify such a price

This scent, it seems, is one of those that remained a mystery to me. It feels too dull and faceless. It doesn't smell bad, of course, but for that kind of money, it clearly doesn't meet expectations. It's kind of sad to realize that such things exist!!

This scent, in my opinion, is completely banal. Nothing special, just boring and too safe. The woody notes supposedly create a cozy atmosphere, but in the end, they still get tiring. The citruses, which should add brightness, only slightly dilute this grayness 🤷‍♀️
