Fragrance information:

Orange X Santal Essential Parfums, that first saw the light of day in 2018, sits firmly in the category of a unisex fragrance, belonging to the wood and citrus families. The talent of Nathalie Gracia-Cetto is written all over this bottle. By character, it falls into the wood, earthy / mossy, and citrus groups. The palette of this fragrance is exceptionally rich: traces of aromatic can also be found — a rare combination that makes this perfume truly one of a kind. Available as eau de parfum.

It carries a moderate sillage, leaving a trail that lingers pleasantly in the air. Longevity is moderate — not too much, not too little, just right. Produced in France, and you can feel it in every note. A rich, layered composition that reveals itself differently depending on your mood and the time of day.

Perfume information

Description of the composition

The note pyramid of Orange X Santal evolves as a continuous scent journey, where accents shift without rush and without gaps. The creative approach of Essential Parfums is evident in the pacing of the notes and the overall aesthetic. Every decision feels deliberate, and the fragrance holds its character from opening to trail. Eau de parfum sets the depth and body this composition needs.

At the note-group layer the composition is built around Aromatic, Citrus, Earthy / Mossy and Wood. At family level the fragrance belongs to Citrus and Wood.

When the pyramid is blended into one block the notes arrive together with a architectural woody mood: Basil, Bitter Orange, Cypress, Oak moss and Sandalwood.

The middle and base stages are read as a gradual shift without abrupt breaks, which keeps the fragrance coherent.

The internal accord map is built around these accords: Aromatic, Citrus and Wood with each one in a clear role. The profile is unisex, which clarifies the composition character. In wear duration Middle suggests confident staying power.

Overall Orange X Santal sounds complete from start to finish — the start forms character, the central phase adds depth, and the final phase leaves a stable imprint. These are the scent structures best judged in wear.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

2
Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

The perfume is fresh, perfect for hot weather, though it seems I'll have to wait a whole year for it. It creates the atmosphere of a Mediterranean garden, but the basil, cypress, and bitter orange (which is simply wonderful here) sound quiet, as if carried away by the wind. It has a lightness, but the longevity and sillage aren't impressive. Overall, it's a decent unisex fragrance for personal use 🌿

To be honest, the fragrance disappoints more than it delights. Sandalwood evokes associations with an Indian store for me, and this connection doesn't quite fit with the overall lightness of the scent. Although, I must admit, the sandalwood here smells quite decent, it doesn't turn into dill, it's fresh and light, as much as possible for sandalwood. But these persistent images of an Indian shop still don't leave me. Perhaps it will reveal itself better near water or on the seashore, but that will only become clear next year. So, as they say, life goes on. And as for unisex - yes, it's quite suitable, but for me, it's more of an evening summer fragrance than a daytime one

This fragrance truly stands out among the rest in the collection. At first, it seems like a typical men's fougère, but upon closer acquaintance, an amazing freshness of sandalwood unfolds. This isn't the sandalwood found in oriental compositions, but rather a refined, milky, and nurturing one. Bigarade adds brightness and a touch of bitterness to the sandalwood, while subtle nuances of basil, oak, and cypress make it even more interesting. Overall, it's a fragrance that gives confidence and a feeling of lightness

A beautiful and original fragrance with a refined combination of notes. I think it might even surpass Fig Infusion in my preferences from Essentials. The unusual blend of bigarade, basil, and sandalwood is particularly impressive. It starts bright, then settles into calming green and woody accents. Simply magnificent! I adore such notes of freshness, lightness, and tranquility

What a bright and rich scent of sandalwood with orange! Absolutely thrilled with the purchase. The orange is a bit bitter, but that adds interest, and the green notes give freshness, the sandalwood is so soft. Overall, very pleasant and harmonious 🌟

The scent is really cool, but it definitely leans towards the "masculine" side. It's fresh and citrusy, reminiscent of cologne, but much brighter and more interesting. Longevity is on par with eau de parfum, which is also nice. I think men will definitely like it 👍

The scent, unfortunately, turned out to be a complete disappointment. Citrus notes and salty sandalwood don't mix, creating some kind of nonsense. In the end, it feels like orange juice was spilled on a wooden board
