Vanille Imperiale by Houbigant is a unisex fragrance from 2024, dedicated to the multifaceted beauty of vanilla.
The fragrance is part of the Les Ambres collection and continues the amber-focused direction of the French house, founded in Paris back in 1775.
It is a modern interpretation of a classic perfumery idea, where soft sweetness meets the freshness of citrus and the airy quality of white flowers.
The composition comes in an eau de parfum concentration and belongs to two fragrance families at once: citrus and floral.
Despite its name, Vanille Imperiale does not smell purely gourmand. Here, vanilla is surrounded by neroli, rose, jasmine, and tuberose, making the fragrance feel multidimensional, luminous, and elegant.
Its unisex character allows it to unfold equally naturally on both women’s and men’s skin, with its mood changing according to the temperature and individual skin chemistry.
Vanille Imperiale opens with a sparkling combination of bergamot, blood orange, and neroli.
In the first few minutes, the scent feels sunny and transparent: the citrus freshness quickly softens into a delicate floral nuance without becoming sharp.
This accord makes the fragrance especially appealing to those who enjoy vanilla with a light, clean, and almost radiant opening.
At the heart, vanilla blends with rose, jasmine, and tuberose. The flowers give it a creamy texture and delicate sensuality, while the vanilla gradually grows warmer and more prominent.
In the drydown, ambrette, grey amber, and musk appear, creating a soft, slightly warm base that preserves a sense of comfort without weighing down the composition.
Vanille Imperiale’s main feature is its balance between sweetness and weightlessness. It is not a dense dessert-like fragrance, but rather a vanilla veil illuminated by citrus and supported by a floral heart.
It is well suited to everyday outfits, relaxed meetings, the office, and cosy evenings, especially during the transitional seasons and on cool spring and autumn days.
The fragrance has subtle sillage, so Vanille Imperiale stays close to the skin and feels unobtrusive.
It is a great choice for those who prefer perfume “for themselves” rather than a pronounced cloud around them.
Apply it to the skin to enter its soft, scented cloud; on clothing, one or two sprays are enough.
The fragrance develops especially well on warm areas of the skin, such as the wrists, neck, and inner elbows.
For a more delicate effect, try spraying it into the air and walking through the mist; this will distribute the citrus-floral composition more lightly.
On fabric, the vanilla base may last longer, so it is best to increase the amount gradually.
Vanille Imperiale highlights the character of Les Ambres: here, amber softness never becomes heavy, instead blending with clean flowers and fresh citrus.
The perfumer’s name has not been disclosed for this release, nor has any information about other concentrations, so the fragrance should be considered a standalone eau de parfum from 2024.
Fans of Vanille Imperiale may also be interested in Dior Addict Eau Fraiche, Jil Sander Jil Sander No 4, and Clive Christian X Neroli.
They do not replicate the composition completely, but echo its freshness, floral transparency, or elegant citrus accent.
Vanille Imperiale is chosen for its calm unisex character, soft vanilla, and comfortable development without excessive intensity.
The fragrance is highly persistent and lasts on the skin for up to 8–10 hours, gradually revealing its notes and allowing you to enjoy the full bouquet throughout the day
