Identity and History of Lacoste Style in Play

The fragrance Lacoste Style in Play, released in 2004, is an eau de toilette from the legendary brand Lacoste.

Founded in 1933 by tennis player René Lacoste, the brand has evolved over more than 90 years into a symbol of sporty elegance, and this fragrance has become part of its heritage, reflecting a playful and stylish approach to men's perfumery.

Positioning and Wearability

The scent is male, making it ideal for active and confident young people. It belongs to the Floral and Green families, giving it a fresh and energetic character.

The fragrance trail is rated as medium, providing a noticeable but not overwhelming presence throughout the day.

As an eau de toilette, it is excellent for daily use in warm seasons, whether for the office, a date, or active leisure.

For optimal effect, it is recommended to apply it moderately to the skin and clothing, starting with 2-3 sprays and adjusting based on sensation.

If you enjoyed Style in Play, you might appreciate similar fragrances: Moschino Cheap and Chic Light Clouds, Giorgio Armani Si Passione Intense and Monotheme Fine Fragrances Venezia Red Fig, which also blend freshness with depth.

Influence and Brand Context

The release of Style in Play in the mid-2000s was part of Lacoste's strategy to refresh its perfume portfolio to attract a modern audience.

Although information about the perfumer is not widely available, the fragrance has successfully fit into the brand's DNA, emphasizing sporty elegance and versatility.

It has received positive reviews for its ability to match various styles, strengthening Lacoste's reputation as a creator of high-quality and affordable perfumes.

Description of the composition

Composition of Lacoste Style in Play

The note pyramid in Lacoste Style in Play begins with a bright and refreshing green accord, which creates an energetic and cheerful first impression, as if awakening the senses after the rain.

In the heart of the composition, cedar and jasmine unfold, where the woody strength of cedar harmoniously intertwines with the delicate floral scent of jasmine, adding warmth and complexity.

The base of the fragrance consists of patchouli and musk, which provide longevity and sensuality, leaving a soft, earthy, and cozy trail on the skin.

This development from fresh greenery to woody-musky depth makes the fragrance dynamic and suitable for transitions from day to evening, highlighting its versatile character.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

I don't like this scent either, it reminds me of gopniks. Those "cool" guys who can only brag but don't actually understand anything. Elite perfumery? They haven't even properly tried Lacoste or Hugo Boss! Ugh! At first glance, the perfume seems decent, but it quickly gets boring and just becomes disgusting. Something like that!!

This scent is quiet, sweet-tart, but it's missing something. My brother bought it when Red ran out, but honestly, I still prefer the first one more. Although, yes, there is some similarity between them. But this feeling that something is gone doesn't leave me

Oh, this perfume really gets on my nerves! In our city, every other young guy under 35 knows this scent, and they all think it's just super. Although, maybe it's not bad, but I'm already tired of it. There's some nasty note in it. Maybe pine and jasmine don't really get along? I don't know, but it's definitely not my choice

The fragrance is truly impressive! It's such a reliable, time-tested item. It suits any occasion, is status-y and has character. I've already used two bottles, and the third is almost empty. It has never let me down, always brought joy. I use it both in everyday life and in the banya. The stick deodorant is simply super, lasts a long time and the feeling of freshness stays all day. I wear it more often in summer, but in winter it seems too sweet and light. I can sense apple, vetiver and patchouli in it, and pine needles, if present, are very subtle. There's a certain smokiness in it that makes it denser and more tangible on the skin. In short, fresh tartness is what it's about. The sillage is small, but the longevity is good, I definitely feel it for about four hours. And, by the way, this is the only Lacoste fragrance I truly like! )))

An excellent men's perfume when you want something calm and neutral. I can't say it's exclusively green and fresh. There's a certain heaviness to it, maybe it's due to the woody notes )

The fragrance is green and fresh, with a slight tartness. It smells simply excellent on men. Definitely summery, but in winter it might seem too sharp and even biting

It's really interesting, so youthful and fresh, but with a tart undertone. I get the feeling it's green, as if spruce needles are woven into it. This coolness that comes from spruce plants gives it a special note, but I can't quite say if I like it or not

The scent is simply unbearable, barely perceptible, as if it's not even there. This apple, which is supposed to be tart, actually only causes irritation. The concept, of course, is clear - not to distract during a game, but why apply anything at all then? No sweat smell, but no joy from it either. Usain Bolt might use it, of course, but that doesn't make it any better. Awful ))

The scent evokes associations with sports and victories, like you're on a pedestal. I've been looking for it for a long time, and finally, I found it. The professor who teaches medicine also uses something similar. It seems not only cool guys can appreciate such a fragrance, as I'm not one of them myself. But I really like it. Hugo Boss is also on my list of favorites
