Identity and Release History

In 2019, the world of perfumery was enriched by a unique creation — Ladanika Baba Yaga, released by the Russian niche house Ladanika.

This fragrance, presented as Perfume (Extract), instantly attracted attention with its mythological concept, inspired by Slavic folklore and the mysterious image of Baba Yaga, symbolizing a connection with nature and fairy tales.

The brand Ladanika, founded in 2017, strives to express the soul of Russia through scents, and "Baba Yaga" perfectly embodies this mission, combining elements of the native land with a creative approach to perfumery art.

Positioning and Wearability

Ladanika Baba Yaga is positioned as a female fragrance, but its universal character will attract those who appreciate deep, niche compositions.

The fragrance trail is barely perceptible, making it ideal for intimate gatherings or moments when you want to leave a subtle, mysterious trace without overwhelming others.

The recommended dosage on the skin is from 1 to 2 sprays, allowing control over intensity and enjoyment of a gradual, multifaceted development.

Thanks to sweet and woody accents, this perfume particularly unfolds in cool seasons, such as autumn and winter, providing warmth and coziness in daily life.

Authors and Influence

Talented perfumers Maria Strazdas and Polina Poplevina worked on the creation of "Baba Yaga," who masterfully embodied in the fragrance the mystical atmosphere of Russian forests and fairy tale beliefs.

Their joint work highlights the innovative spirit of the brand Ladanika and its aspiration for artistic expression.

This release strengthens the reputation of Ladanika as a leading niche house, capable of creating fragrances inspired by cultural heritage, and attracting the attention of a global audience to the uniqueness of Russian perfumery.

Description of the composition

Fragrance Composition

The note pyramid in Ladanika Baba Yaga is a rich blend where the traditional division into top, middle, and base chords merges into a single harmony, creating a holistic and mysterious image.

Sweet notes such as caramel and honey dominate the composition, giving the fragrance a warm, enveloping sweetness reminiscent of fairy-tale treats.

Woody accents, including guaiac wood and white cedar, add depth and structure, while balsamic elements like labdanum, Peruvian balsam, and resins provide longevity and a resinous character, enhancing the mystical atmosphere.

Earthy and mossy notes, particularly oakmoss, and the unique component white mushroom, bring naturalness and mystery to the fragrance, evoking damp, mysterious forests.

The green note of wormwood (artemisia) adds a bitter contrast, balancing the sweetness and creating a multifaceted profile that unfolds gradually on the skin.

These notes are grouped into categories: balsamic, earthy / mossy, fruity, green, sweet, and woody, reflecting the complex nature of the fragrance.

The families aromatic, sweet, and woody emphasize its warm, woody-sweet character with aromatic nuances, making it recognizable and inspiring for niche perfume enthusiasts.

The fragrance is simply amazing, created by the master of forest spirits from Karelia, Maria Strazdas. This is a true gem in the Ladanika collection. The name sparks interest and adds a bit of spice. Baba Yaga is right here, with a mischievous mood and a spirited "I" - a true warrior grandmother with a slice of Borodinsky bread and a bottle of good whiskey, peeking coquettishly from the pocket of her patchwork apron. She doesn't stand still, she taps her feet and dances, carefully studying those around her. Who are you, dear person? A kindred spirit or just passing by? For her own, she'll always have strong herbal tea and fragrant pastries, and the steam room is a whole other story. And passers-by can go look for their mushrooms and vipers, they'll never find Baba Yaga's hut! 🌲

Sometimes, to appreciate tar soap, you just have to love it. On my skin, which is always cold, this scent evokes strange associations. Auto mechanic Vasily, who transforms into an elderly woman after work, looks quite grotesque. Tar, fuel oil, shoe polish. This soap seems to be based solely on tar from Nevskaya Kosmetika. It seems all this beauty is meant only for women with warm skin. I'm thinking that before buying, one should pay attention to the perfumer and choose based on appearance and physique. If it's Baba Yaga, then clearly one who has been to hell and smells of smoke, smearing her joints with some ointment. This fragrance is definitely not for everyone

How sad it is to realize that sometimes our love for tar soap makes us wear it. On my cold skin, this scent, like the image of auto mechanic Vasily who transforms into an older woman after his shift, looks simply absurd. Tar, fuel oil, shoe polish. At the heart of this "Nevskaya Kosmetika" soap lies something that is clearly not for me. It seems all this beauty is only for those with warm skin. I'm wondering, maybe before buying, one should pay attention to the perfumer and choose by appearance and physique. If it's a Baba Yaga, then clearly with sad experience and a smell as if she's been to hell. This fragrance is definitely not for me

At first, you feel the dampness of an autumn forest. But deep in the forest, a cozy hut is hidden, where someone is boiling sweet caramel lollipops (definitely with cockerels!) and baking honey gingerbread. It seems to be a kind Baba Yaga, not an evil witch at all. She's like a bright side who will feed, water, and put you to sleep. And, of course, she won't forget to give wise advice 🍂

Honestly, Baba Yaga isn't such a bad character. She's an adult, experienced, serious woman. A fragrance with such a name doesn't surprise me at all. I can imagine how funny it would be if someone asked about the perfume: "Why do you smell so nice?" - "Oh, that's Baba Yaga" 😅
