Aldebaran by Marc-Antoine Barrois — an expressive unisex fragrance of 2025

Aldebaran Eau de Parfum is a new fragrance by Marc-Antoine Barrois, released in 2025.

This eau de parfum continues the aesthetic of the French house, founded in 2016 at the crossroads of haute couture and contemporary perfumery.

The composition is designed for women and men who enjoy distinctive, characterful fragrances with an unusual combination of floral softness, green freshness and a spicy accent.

Quentin Bisch was the perfumer behind Aldebaran. He is known for working with contrasts and transforming familiar ingredients into emotional, memorable accords.

In this release, the white-floral theme is not conventionally airy, but bolder: tuberose takes on a spicy nuance and green depth, making the fragrance feel modern and slightly provocative.

The fragrance’s character and olfactive profile

Aldebaran’s olfactive profile is built around floral and spicy nuances.

Tuberose creates an expressive opening, paprika adds a piquant warmth, while mate and tonka bean form a contrasting base.

As a result, the fragrance balances rich white florals, green bitterness and a soft, spicy-sweet drydown.

It opens with a vivid floral impression that gradually becomes spicier and more expansive.

In the heart, paprika emphasizes the composition’s temperament without turning it into a heavy oriental fragrance.

In the final stage, mate lends the scent a dry green facet, while tonka bean softens the accord with a creamy, subtly sweet depth.

Sillage and wearability

Aldebaran has noticeable sillage: those around you will easily pick up the fragrance, while its character unfolds especially beautifully in motion and on warm skin.

It is a choice for those who enjoy distinctive perfumery and are not looking for barely perceptible compositions.

Its unisex positioning makes the fragrance versatile: on some skin, the white-floral side will be more pronounced; on others, the green-spicy facet and tonka accord will take center stage.

For everyday wear, 1 to 2 sprays on the skin are sufficient. This amount helps preserve the fragrance’s expressiveness while avoiding excessive density.

One or two sprays are also recommended on clothing, after first checking how the fabric reacts to the fragrance composition.

Aldebaran is especially fitting for cool weather, when the spicy and tonka nuances smell richer and the tuberose develops a beautiful creamy depth.

At the same time, its green mate accord adds freshness, so the fragrance is not limited to evening wear.

It is suitable for a walk, a date, a creative event or any occasion when you want to express your personal style without gender boundaries.

Aldebaran’s place in Marc-Antoine Barrois perfumery

Aldebaran shows how the Marc-Antoine Barrois house combines the visual rigor of fashion with the expressive language of niche perfumery.

The release is not built around simple sweetness or familiar white-floral transparency. Its distinctive character comes from tuberose, paprika, mate and tonka bean, brought together in a contrasting composition.

This combination is precisely what makes the fragrance interesting to discuss and compare: it can smell different on the skin and reveal new nuances throughout the day.

Those who would like to explore compositions with a similar mood may want to look at Marc-Antoine Barrois Aldebaran Limited Edition, as well as compare Aldebaran with Cristian Cavagna Musa Paradisiaca and Mark Des Vince Intimate.

No other Aldebaran concentrations are listed in the available data, so the eau de parfum remains the primary version for discovering this release.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

I don't feel like criticizing Aldebaran. If you don't fixate on it being a Bisch, that everyone will soon wear it, and that its longevity and projection can be tiring, the composition is genuinely high-quality and unusual. I don't understand the comparisons to Bakhmatka and Blanche Bete at all: perhaps tuberose is the only shared thing, but it smells different everywhere. Aldebaran opens cold and slightly sharp, with a vegetal or medicinal hint, but nothing disgusting. Then softness and a light milkiness appear, and tuberose comes forward. The base is calm, slightly sweet but not dessert-like. It's a cold, distant scent, but definitely not awful. I have a decant and am already considering a 30 ml bottle

A livelier, more floral version of Ganymede, without its metallic harshness. There's a light inedible sweetness and just a touch of greenery, presumably that's how mate shows itself

At first it smells of expensive leather and the interior of a new car. Then the scent settles, blends with the skin and becomes more expansive. The tuberose here is creamy, with a floral character. I almost stop smelling it on myself, but people around me notice the trail. Beautiful, long-lasting and clearly full of character

Oh no, this is a scent that punches you in the nose. It lasts forever and clings to everything around it. Smells like some harsh medicinal ointment. I left the blotter in my phone case, then had to throw it away. Good thing I didn’t risk applying it to my skin. I don’t understand who could possibly need something like this. Apparently, so the smell can break through walls
