Midnight Datura: An Enchanting Night

The Midnight Datura eau de parfum by Parfums Quartana was launched in 2016 and instantly became one of the most mysterious and alluring creations in the Les Potions-Fatales collection.

This women’s fragrance with a noticeable sillage was created for those who are not afraid of temptation and the secrets of the night.

It was composed by perfumer Lisa Fleischmann, who brought to life the image of datura—a “moon flower” that blooms only under the cover of night and serves as the key ingredient in a love potion.

The inspiration behind the composition is magic and danger.

Datura, known for its ability to induce hallucinations and a trance-like state, intertwines here with ten different flowers to create an intoxicating, sensual cocktail.

The fragrance belongs to the Amber, Floral, and Powdery families, making it warm, delicate, and slightly narcotic all at once.

Midnight Datura is not just a perfume, but a true potion that envelops you in a dense, noticeable trail.

It is perfect for evening occasions, when you want to be the center of attention and leave a trace of mystery behind you.

If you are looking for a fragrance with character that unfolds on the skin like a promise of something forbidden, take a closer look at this release.

What People Say About Midnight Datura

Many have come to love this fragrance for its multifaceted character and longevity.

It is compared to such bright, compliment-getting creations as Montale Crystal Flowers, By Kilian Beyond Love, and Lanvin Rumeur 2 Rose Limited Edition.

If you enjoy luxurious floral-powdery fragrances with an amber base, Midnight Datura is definitely worth trying.

The story of Parfums Quartana began in New York in 2016. Its founder, Joseph Quartana, created the brand as a bold voice in niche perfumery, challenging conventions.

Midnight Datura is a vivid affirmation of this philosophy: it does not follow the rules—it sets them.

Description of the composition

Fragrance composition

Midnight Datura unfolds through a rich bouquet of more than twenty ingredients.

At its heart are white flowers: datura, tuberose, jasmine, magnolia, rose, and heliotrope, creating an intoxicating floral accord.

Spicy notes of black pepper and nutmeg add piquancy, while rum and vanilla bring a sweetly seductive touch. A base of amber, cedar, sandalwood, and patchouli ensures lasting presence and a noticeable trail.

Bergamot and mandarin complete the composition with a light citrus sparkle at the opening.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

This fragrance is a complete disappointment. The warmth they talk about is more like a suffocating heaviness. Tuberose and rum? That's just a nightmare. It's as if someone decided to mix all the bad cocktails in one bottle. Datura and magnolia only add more discomfort. The sweetish aftertaste is just disgusting. Heliotrope, which was supposed to add lightness, only creates a feeling of powdery cotton wool that presses on your nose. Sillage? Yes, it's there, but it's not pleasant, rather frightening. The fragrance only causes bewilderment and a desire to get rid of it as soon as possible
