Liquid Time perfume by Poulage Parfumeur

Liquid Time is not merely a fragrance, but a philosophical reflection on time captured in a bottle.

Released in 2015 by the French niche house Poulage Parfumeur, this men's fragrance immediately caught the attention of connoisseurs of original compositions.

Its creator, perfumer Stéphanie Poulage, infused it with her personal view of life's passage, where each note is a grain of sand in an endless stream.

Its woody-spicy character with amber accents makes Liquid Time an ideal choice for confident men who appreciate depth and mystery.

The fragrance belongs to the Woody, Spicy, and Amber families, creating a multifaceted scent profile.

The fragrance has moderate sillage, allowing it to remain noticeable without being overwhelming—an ideal balance for everyday elegance or an evening out.

Scent profile and notes

The composition is built around five key notes: Amber, Clove, Cypress, Sandalwood, and Vetiver. Rather than following a classic fragrance pyramid, they intertwine to create a sense of continuous movement.

Sandalwood lends a creamy softness, vetiver brings damp woodiness, while clove adds spicy warmth.

Amber envelops the composition in a warm, golden glow, while cypress introduces fresh coniferous nuances, like a breeze through a pine forest.

Who it is for and how to wear it

Liquid Time is positioned as a men's fragrance, yet its versatility also allows women who love bold woody compositions to wear it.

Thanks to its moderate sillage, it is suitable for the office, dates, or creative gatherings. If you are looking for something distinctive that will set you apart from the crowd, Liquid Time can become your silent ally.

Further inspiration can be found in the brand's story: Poulage Parfumeur was founded by Stéphanie Poulage, a chemist and perfumer who strives to create fragrances that reflect emotions and time.

Description of the composition

The composition of Liquid Time is built around five key notes: amber, carnation, cypress, sandalwood, and vetiver.

Unlike a classic fragrance pyramid, the notes unfold simultaneously here, creating a linear yet multifaceted profile.

Warm amber and spicy carnation intertwine with the woody accords of sandalwood and vetiver, while fresh cypress adds a touch of coolness.

It is a seamless, harmonious accord that gradually unfolds on the skin.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

The perfume, of course, isn't bad, but there's no need to idealize it. Nothing special, just another little bottle of scent, like many others. I don't understand why everyone's so excited about it. Too ordinary to be praising it

This scent is probably the closest out of all four. It's really versatile, but the first notes give off a cologne vibe, which is a bit off-putting. At first, it seems too "soapy," but that feeling quickly fades as the scent starts to unfold. Citrus freshness, vibrant greenery, and the delicate spice of clove create an interesting backdrop, while cypress adds depth. Overall, it leaves behind a slight sadness, as if something important is slipping away 🍃
