Perfume information

Description of the composition

The olfactory structure of Harrods Oud is shaped as a living composition, where notes flow with precision and warmth. The style of Bond No. 9 is evident from the opening to the final trail. Nothing here feels random, and the fragrance holds its character from opening to trail. Eau de parfum keeps a balanced rhythm of unfolding.

The accord profile rests on these accords: Balsamic, Wood, Amber and Spicy without random overlap. The profile is unisex, which makes the scent profile easier to read.

In a unified mixed pyramid the fragrance opens as a single chord with a peppery-spicy mood: Ambergris, Black Pepper, Caraway, Myrrh, Oud and Vetiver. In this format 6 notes work as one voice, forming piquant dynamism that keeps the opening compact and balanced.

The middle and base stages are perceived as a smooth transition from opening to trail, which gives the structure continuity.

From the group perspective the structure relies on Ambery, Spicy, Balsamic and Wood. From a family perspective the composition sits in Amber, Spicy and Wood.

In summary Harrods Oud sounds complete from start to finish — the start forms character, the middle layer carries the identity, and the final phase leaves a stable imprint. These are the scent structures best experienced on skin.

The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth

The scent isn't bad, of course, but it seems too heavy to me. The notes of myrrh and wood are oppressive, and pepper, though it adds something interesting, doesn't save the situation. The result is something depressing, not magnificent 😒
