Identity and Release History

Immerse yourself in the world of Italian luxury with Valentino V Absolu, a feminine fragrance that debuted in 2005 and instantly became a symbol of elegance and sensuality.

This perfume is part of the iconic 'V' line from the legendary house Valentino, a brand that has embodied the highest level of haute couture for over six decades.

Released in an era when perfumery aimed for complex and multifaceted compositions, V Absolu reflects the spirit of the time through its rich and warm character, perfectly fitting into Valentino's heritage as an icon of style and impeccable taste.

The fragrance is classified as eau de parfum, which guarantees intensity and longevity, allowing you to enjoy its depth throughout the day.

Its launch strengthened Valentino's reputation in the perfume industry, offering a seductive alternative to the lighter floral fragrances of that period.

Character and Scent Impression

Valentino V Absolu is a true embodiment of sensuality and sophistication, creating an aura of mystery and confidence.

From the first whiff, it enchants with fresh and playful accents that gradually transition into floral tenderness, then wrap you in warm and woody embraces.

This perfume is ideal for those who appreciate complex compositions where each note plays a role in creating a harmonious whole.

Its development on the skin resembles a journey: starting with a bright fruity-citrus burst, it unfolds in the heart with a lush bouquet of flowers, and in the base finds stability thanks to amber and woody chords.

This multi-layered character makes V Absolu versatile for different moods and occasions, from romantic dates to evening outings.

Positioning and Usage Practice

Created specifically for women, Valentino V Absolu has a moderate sillage that leaves a subtle yet noticeable trail without overwhelming others.

For optimal development, spot application on pulse points such as wrists and neck is recommended, allowing the fragrance to interact naturally with body warmth.

Additionally, you can walk into a cloud by spraying the perfume on clothing for a more lasting effect, especially in cool weather.

If you're looking for similar fragrances to expand your collection, consider Hugo Boss Deep Red, Givenchy Dahlia Noir Eau de Toilette, and Elie Saab Le Parfum Royal — all of which blend floral, fruity, and woody notes to create seductive and memorable compositions.

Impact and Legacy in the Perfume World

The launch of Valentino V Absolu in 2005 was a significant moment for the brand, highlighting its ability to create fragrances that not only follow trends but also set new standards in perfumery.

This perfume solidified Valentino's position as a master of complex and emotional compositions, attracting fans who value depth and luxury.

While information about specific perfumers for this release is not always publicly available, its success demonstrates how Valentino integrates its fashion DNA into perfume creations, making each fragrance part of a larger narrative about Italian chic and elegance.

Description of the composition

The note pyramid Valentino V Absolu is a masterfully woven composition that begins with a bright and fresh start: the top notes include fig, fir resin (balsam), freesia, grapefruit, mandarin, and an unexpected vodka, creating a playful and invigorating impression.

In the heart of the fragrance, floral luxury unfolds with notes of frangipani, heliotrope, orange blossom (fleur d'orange), and rose, adding tenderness and romance.

The base secures the composition with warm and cozy chords: amber, cedar, frankincense, sandalwood, vanilla, and musk create a long-lasting and seductive finish that gently envelops the skin.

This pyramid not only demonstrates the diversity of floral, musky, and woody families, but also ensures smooth transitions between stages, making the fragrance dynamic and memorable.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. The Valentino fragrance turned out to be unexpected for me. It's quite intense and has a slight bitterness

The perfume isn't bad, but the longevity leaves much to be desired. On me, it reminds me of an alcoholic cocktail with fruity notes. But the fig with vanilla is simply intoxicating. I notice that this bright and memorable scent attracts men ;)

What an amazing warm scent! It wonderfully combines woody notes with a light powdery nuance. The bottle is simply magnificent and looks very original. The longevity of the fragrance is excellent, and the sillage is simply captivating. I'm absolutely delighted and enjoy using it!

The scent is just cloying and bright, as if someone decided to pour sugar syrup into the bottle. The bottle, by the way, looks just like the scent itself - too provocative. Longevity, of course, is there, but the sillage is such that half the town runs after you as if you're carrying a bucket of sweet water 😒

The scent just chokes with its sweetness. Too much vanilla, and the rose screams at every turn, the powder isn't far behind either. It's so bright and long-lasting, it feels like it'll never leave your memory 😔

The fragrance is somehow too feminine and soft, fig is clearly in the foreground here, and vanilla and sandalwood are almost imperceptible. Gentle? Nah, rather intrusive and irritating. I don't know who might like this, but it didn't work for me at all 😒

I got this scent as a gift, and I don't understand why. I agree that the fig with vanilla is really cool, and the citruses are soft and juicy, not sharp. But then there's this vodka. When it starts to appear, it feels like I'm not wearing a cocktail, but some kind of technical alcohol that a guy uses to clean parts. You can't even air it out afterwards! I absolutely adore the base of the perfume - it's chic, noble, elegant! But I can't stand this vodka hangover smell that comes before it and that I just want to wipe off my skin

The scent is simply amazing! The sweetness of fig perfectly combines with citruses, and a sparkling alcoholic note adds an interesting accent. White flowers soften the fruity richness, creating a harmonious sound. Overall, this is a truly beautiful perfume with a distinct character )

I'm passing by Valentino again, and honestly, the fragrances aren't impressive right now. This one, for example, with its vanilla and fig - seems decent, but something is missing. The prices, of course, are off the charts, and it's too late to change anything now. Should have thought about it earlier, now there's only disappointment

I once had a small tester of this perfume, and I was pleasantly surprised that I hadn't been familiar with a Valentino fragrance until then!))) It's simply amazing, and if I had the opportunity not to spare money on perfume, I would definitely buy it for myself… most likely in EDC format

The fragrance is interesting, of course, but for me, it mostly evokes nostalgia for what once was. My sister had the white V, and I was simply lost in its magic back then. But this red one... it's simply amazing! Sweet, but not vulgar, not overwhelming and doesn't cause headaches. It has boldness, but it doesn't cross the line. A warmth that envelops, but leaves a bitterness behind. Overall, it leaves a mixed impression ))

This Valentino fragrance is simply a gem! Absolu is something unique; it's so rich and harmonious that there's simply nothing superfluous in it. The citruses sound amazing, and sweet fig with rose in vanilla vodka create an incredible cocktail. If anyone is worried about the vodka, don't be, it's not aggressive at all here, but rather soft and clean. I wore it in any season, and each time it revealed itself in a new way. A true masterpiece!
