Chipmunk Zoologist Perfumes arrived in 2021 — and it was immediately clear this one was here to stay. By character, a unisex fragrance drawing from the spicy, animals, wood, and balsamic families. This fragrance is the result of a creative collaboration between Pia Long and Victor Wong. Released in perfume extract.

Description of the composition

The composition of Chipmunk unfolds as a layered story, where accents shift without rush and without gaps. The signature of Zoologist Perfumes is evident in the pacing of the notes and the overall aesthetic. Every decision feels deliberate, and the fragrance holds its character from opening to trail. Perfume extract supports a balanced rhythm of unfolding.

At olfactory-group level the structure relies on Spicy, Floral, Earthy / Mossy and Wood. The palette also extends to Fruit, Animals and Balsamic. From a family perspective the fragrance belongs to Animals, Balsamic, Spicy and Wood.

As soon as the fragrance opens you meet cardamom-peppery top notes: Cardamom, Nutmeg and Pink pepper.

When the opening settles you sense Chamomile, Earthy Notes, Fir, Hazelnut and oak keeping a velvety sandalwood direction.

The olfactory framework rests on these accords: Animalistic, Balsamic, Gourmet and Floral without random overlap. Background accords such as Wood, Spicy and Mineral enrich the profile without taking over.

The bottle features some fluffy animal, and that's misleading. I expected the scent to be soft and cozy, but in reality, it turned out to be quite complex. The notes are capricious, and they don't get along with warm skin. The smell reminds me of something medicinal, with herbal undertones, dry and tart, but with added resin. This is definitely not for everyone. The masculine part of the composition clearly dominates, and there's no place for women here 😕
