Brand «A Bathing Ape / Bape»

The Japanese clothing brand A Bathing Ape, abbreviated as Bape, was founded in Tokyo in the early 90s. Since then, it has become one of the leading fashion houses in the world, successfully infusing global fashion with the spirit of Japanese culture. Its founder, Nigo, named his first clothing store inspired by the film Planet of the Apes (1968). The brand's second name, Bape, is derived from "A Bathing Ape in Lukewarm Water." For the Japanese, soaking in a hot bath is a luxury; the usual tap water temperature does not exceed 40 degrees Celsius, and Nigo wanted to emphasize the audacity and permissiveness of the younger generation of Japanese who choose his brand. The fashion house produces streetwear for men, women, and children featuring various characters from modern Japanese culture and original prints. In Japan, there are more than 20 stores under this label, including specialized ones: in addition to selling clothing, the store premises house a gallery for various events, art exhibitions, and concerts sponsored by Bape. In spring 2016, the brand released its first fragrance – A Bathing Ape. This unisex scent was created with a woody-fougère character, filled with clean, calm, pleasant natural accents.

The company's stores operate in various countries in Asia, the USA, and the UK. In addition to its own collections, the brand collaborates with other fashion houses, well-known brands, artists, and celebrities.
