Pheromone perfume: can fragrances increase attractiveness?

The Lanvin perfume house is a living history of fashion and olfactory art, whose roots delve into the very heart of Parisian elegance. Founded by Jeanne Lanvin in 1889 as a fashion house, the brand debuted in the world of fragrances in 1924, becoming one of the pioneers of designer perfumery. Unlike many, Lanvin from the very beginning viewed perfumes not as an accessory, but as an extension of clothing – an invisible yet essential part of the wardrobe, expressing the inner world.
The brand's philosophy is inextricably linked to maternal love, which inspired Jeanne's creativity. The famous logo with a mother and daughter, created by Paul Iribe, symbolizes this connection. It was her daughter, Marie-Blanche, who inspired the creation of the iconic fragrance Arpège in 1927. The perfume became a gift for her 30th birthday, and its name refers to the musical scales she played on the piano. This fragrance, created by perfumers André Fraysse and Paul Vacher, defined the house's signature for decades: exquisite, complex compositions, often with aldehydic chords, where luxury is felt but does not shout.
Lanvin holds many fascinating stories. For example, the house's first fragrance, My Sin (1925), with its daring name and bold, animalic trail, became a sensation in the conservative era and a symbol of emancipation. The Arpège fragrance was long released in Lalique bottles, and its original formula, lost in the mid-20th century, was meticulously restored.
After a difficult period at the end of the last century, the brand found a second wind. Since 2004, the production of Lanvin perfumery has been overseen by the licensee Interparfums, which attracts star perfumers. And in 2021, under new creative leadership, the house presented a rebranding, returning to the elegant blue shade that became its hallmark back in the 1920s. This proves that Lanvin's heritage is not a museum exhibit, but a source of inspiration for modern creations.
A whole constellation of outstanding "noses" has worked on Lanvin fragrances, each bringing their own facet to the brand's DNA. Among them are master Alberto Morillas, creator of the delicate "Éclats"; rebel and visionary Francis Kurkdjian, author of fragrances from the Jeanne collection; and talented Nathalie Lorson, whose works are often distinguished by modern structure and sensuality.
Also contributing were Sonia Constant, Fabrice Pellegrin, Anne Flipo, and others. Through their joint efforts, the recognizable Lanvin style was formed: this is perfumery where classic French elegance meets modern lightness. The brand skillfully creates both luxurious floral-aldehydic symphonies and fresh, playful, fruity-floral compositions, accessible to a wide audience.
Lanvin's fragrance portfolio is rich and diverse, offering both iconic hits and new favorites. The Les Éclats line, including Éclat d'Arpège, is a modern, airy interpretation of the classic, perfect for everyday wear. The Jeanne collection is a tribute to the founder, bolder and more individual.
Among the main hits that have won the love of millions are the romantic and optimistic Marry Me!, the sunny-citrusy A Girl In Capri, and the tender-berry Modern Princess. These fragrances often become the first step in getting to know the brand due to their versatility, excellent longevity, and recognizable, pleasant trail that gathers compliments.
Today, Lanvin successfully balances respect for its rich heritage with current trends. The brand continues to release successful flankers of popular lines, such as Modern Princess Eau Sensuelle, and experiment with new directions, remaining in the segment of premium but accessible luxury perfumery.
Lanvin perfumes are always a guarantee of French quality, elegant composition, and impeccable taste. They are suitable for those who value in a fragrance not only the instant impression but also the depth, history, and that very "invisible touch" that completes the look. From the classic Arpège to the modern Me, this house offers perfumery for all occasions, remaining true to its motto: timeless elegance.
