7 Fragrances for Hot Summer: Freshness and Comfort
Summer puts perfume to the test. In the heat, even your favorite fragrance can sound different: some...
Rallet is not just a perfume house, but a living legend whose history began in 1846. Founded by Frenchman Alphonse Rallet in Moscow, the brand set high standards of quality and innovation from the very beginning, becoming a symbol of luxury and sophistication.
Interestingly, Alphonse Rallet, known in Russia as Alphonse Antonovich, decided to build a perfume factory in Moscow to meet the growing demand for French fragrances without relying on long deliveries. He attracted foreign investors, which was the first case of such financing in Russian perfumery, and created an enterprise with advanced equipment.
The success was stunning: by the mid-19th century, Rallet had become a leading European producer and had the honor of being the official supplier not only to the Russian imperial court, but also to the royal houses of Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, and even the Persian Shah. The house's fragrances were exported worldwide, and the reputation of impeccable quality became the brand's hallmark.
The fame of Rallet is inextricably linked with the names of talented perfumers. A special place among them is held by Ernest Beaux, who in 1907 became the head perfumer of the company. It was here that he honed his skills and experimented with compositions, which later formed the basis of his revolutionary work on aldehydes and the creation of Chanel No. 5.
Today, the legacy of past masters is continued by modern talents such as Corinne Cachen, Benoist Lapouza, Delphine Lebeau-Krowiak, and Delphine Jelk. Their creations for the brand skillfully blend respect for historical roots with contemporary perfume trends.
The brand's catalog is an exciting journey through time: from historical masterpieces admired by aristocrats to bold contemporary compositions. Among the most popular fragrances to try first, the exquisite Le No. 1 Bouquet de Catherine and the rich, complex Bouquet de Napoleon, reminiscent of imperial luxury, stand out.
New works are equally in demand: the mysterious Flou Artistique, the playful Styx Eau de Mischief, the fresh Aqua Mystique, or the mysterious Styx Cauldron. Each of them reflects different facets of the brand's DNA: impeccable quality, creative courage, and attention to detail.
Rallet's perfume style has always balanced between elegant classics and innovation. Historical compositions are characterized by rich floral bouquets, amber and oriental trails, and the use of valuable natural ingredients. Modern fragrances often play on contrasts, adding fruity, aquatic, or gourmand notes, but invariably maintain that "imperial" longevity and volume.
An interesting fact: after Alphonse Rallet left the business in 1856, the rights to the name were bought by his partner Emile Baudran. In the 20th century, the brand became part of major perfume holdings: in 1929 it was acquired by Coty, and later it became part of Pfizer Corporation. This allowed the heritage to be preserved and development to continue.
For true perfume connoisseurs, Rallet is an opportunity to touch living history and experience the fragrances chosen by crowned heads. Today, under the guidance of modern owners and talented perfumers, the brand is experiencing a renaissance, offering both remakes of historical formulas and completely new perfume statements. Its perfumes are an investment in impeccable style, long-lasting trail, and quality tested for more than a century and a half.
