Biography of the Swiss master of fragrances

Andreas Wilhelm is a Swiss perfumer and visionary whose journey into the world of scents began with studying organic chemistry at the renowned Givaudan school. This fundamental approach to the science of substances formed the basis of his unique creative style, combining the precision of a chemist with the imagination of an artist. His career, which included working for companies such as Weleda, paved the way for his next big step: founding his own creative studio, Wilhelm Perfume, in 2008, which marked the beginning of his legend as an independent master.

Signature style and collaborative brands

Andreas Wilhelm's style is bold deconstruction and intellectual play. He masterfully works with contrasts, creating fragrances that surprise and make you think, whether for niche houses or the mass market. His creative signature is valued by many brands. Among his iconic collaborations are eight paired fragrances for Basisnote, sensual compositions for Sentifique, and award-winning debut perfumes for the luxury house Gisada. He has also collaborated with L'Adone, Evalution, and Sarah Baker Perfumes, demonstrating incredible creative flexibility.

Iconic fragrances and best creations

Andreas Wilhelm's best perfumes have become cult classics in the world of niche perfumery. These undoubtedly include the entire provocative collection of his own brand, Perfume.Sucks: from the bold Yellow and woody-spicy Green to the vibrant Living Coral. His work for other brands is no less popular: the mysterious Sentifique - Daim Rouge, the brutal Sentifique - Testosterone, and the elegant Gisada Donna with Gisada Uomo.

Perfume.Sucks: a philosophy without legends

The perfumer's main manifesto is the Perfume.Sucks brand, founded as a response to the excess of marketing fairy tales in the industry. Its concept is radical: the fragrance speaks for itself, without an imposed story. The first three works — Red, Green, and Blue — were presented as compositions that were "rejected" by customers but found new life. This honesty and focus on pure perception made the brand one of the most talked-about phenomena, and its fragrances — objects of true cult status among connoisseurs.

Fragrance as art: installations and innovations

Andreas Wilhelm goes far beyond the bottle, proving that a perfumer is a full-fledged contemporary artist. He has created aromatic soundtracks for Wes Anderson's films and an immersive olfactory installation for London's Saatchi Gallery. His Gourmand Orris project — an "edible perfume" in the form of lollipops — blurs the boundaries between taste and smell. Today, the perfumer is also immersed in the future, working with ScenTronix on scent analysis algorithms, which shows him to be a true innovator whose contribution to the industry is multifaceted and profound.
