British indie perfume legend

Sarah McCartney is not just a perfumer; she is a writer, entrepreneur, and founder of the cult niche brand 4160 Tuesdays. Her journey in the world of fragrances is a story of passion that turned a hobby into global recognition. Born in the north of England, Sarah spent her youth devouring books on perfumery and experimenting with essential oils, finding inspiration in masterpieces such as Diorella by Dior.

From science and marketing to creativity

Her education in the exact sciences and copywriting laid a unique foundation: an analytical mind and the ability to tell stories. Fourteen years of working in marketing for Lush became her real perfume school. It was there, under the guidance of founder Mark Constantine, that she immersed herself in the alchemy of creating fragrances, which ultimately led to the writing of the novel The Scent of Possibility and the decision to devote herself exclusively to perfumery.

The birth of 4160 Tuesdays: philosophy in the name

In 2010, Sarah founded her own brand, giving it the telling name 4160 Tuesdays. It symbolizes the number of Tuesdays in 80 years of life, reminding us of the value of every moment. This brand became a creative laboratory for her, where fragrances-stories are born: emotional, unexpected, and devoid of any hint of snobbery. Her signature style is bold combinations, playing with gourmet accords, notes of leather, smoke, and unusual botanical ingredients.

The best and most popular fragrances by Sarah McCartney

Over the years, Sarah has created more than a hundred compositions. The community's real favorites are playful and sensual perfumes that regularly top the ratings. Among the must-tries are the seductive The Sexiest Scent on the Planet. Ever. IMHO, the cozy Over the Chocolate Shop, the dreamy What I Did On My Holidays, and the deep The Dark Heart of Old Havana. Equally popular are the sunny Sunshine & Pancakes, the philosophical Eau My Soul, and the luxurious Silk, Lace & Chocolate.

Wide scope for collaborations

Sarah's talent is in demand far beyond her own brand. She is a sought-after co-author for independent houses around the world. It is her signature that is recognizable in the woody-fruity Macaque for Zoologist Perfumes. She has created fragrances for Sarah Baker Perfumes, Vaunt London, and developed the entire perfume line for Our Modern Lives. Her work has also been recognized by REEK. Perfume, Urban Reivers, and Handsome.

Global projects: Aura of Kazakhstan

A large-scale collaboration with the Kazakh brand Aura of Kazakhstan occupies a special place in her portfolio. Sarah created four travel fragrances for the brand, each of which became a bestseller: the balsamic Saga of the Silk Road, the gourmand Heart of Alma-Ata, the aldehyde-mineral Pulse of Astana, and the woody-leathery Wind of the Great Steppe.

Legacy and influence on the industry

Sarah McCartney embodies the new, democratic, and independent spirit of modern perfumery. Not only does she create iconic fragrances, but she also generously shares her knowledge through master classes, and her brand remains an example of a successful indie project with a global reputation. Her story is inspiring: she has proven that passion, backed by knowledge and courage, can change an entire career and give the world unforgettable olfactory experiences.
