Mark Buxton

Парфюмер

Mark Buxton is a true artist of scents, whose name is synonymous with avant-garde perfumery. Born in England, raised in Germany, and finding his creative home in Paris, this perfumer has come a long way from studying geology to creating iconic fragrances for the world's leading brands. His story is one of passion, which led him to the Haarmann & Reimer school (now Symrise) and gave the world a nose with a unique, unmistakable signature.

Career and breakthrough fragrances

Mark Buxton earned his reputation as a visionary in the early 1990s. His debut work, the sensual Salvador Dali - Laguna, immediately attracted the attention of the industry. But the real breakthrough came with his collaboration with Comme des Garçons Parfums. His first fragrance for the brand not only opened a new chapter in the brand's perfumery, but also set its unique, intellectual aesthetic. Buxton is the creator of the legendary Comme des Garçons Parfums - 2 and Comme des Garçons Parfums - 2 Man, as well as the incense masterpiece Comme des Garçons Parfums - Series 3 Incense: Ouarzazate.

His portfolio is a gallery of hits for a wide variety of houses: from the grandiose oriental Amouage - Ubar and the smoky cult Le Labo - Vetiver 46 to the sensual Paco Rabanne - Black XS For Her. He has created fragrances for Givenchy, Burberry, Cartier, and Versace, demonstrating incredible flexibility and depth of talent.

His own brand: the world of Mark Buxton

In 2007, the perfumer decided to speak his mind by founding the Mark Buxton Perfumes line. This is a territory of absolute creative freedom, where bold, conceptual, and emotional compositions are born. His debut Hot Leather and the mysterious Nameless established him as a top-class niche author. Today, his collection includes the psychedelic Wood & Absinth, the melancholic Around Midnight, and the cozy and strange English Breakfast, which are loved by true connoisseurs.

Signature style and influence

Mark Buxton's style is always a challenge. He is a master of contrasts and atmospheric scores, fearlessly mixing transparent floral accords with smoke, leather, incense, or absinthe. His fragrances don't just smell good — they tell stories, evoke vivid images, and stir strong emotions. This approach has had a huge impact on the development of modern niche perfumery, inspiring a whole generation of creators to experiment.

Life outside the laboratory

Buxton's energy is not limited to creating perfumes. He is the co-founder of the iconic Parisian concept store Nose, a veritable temple for niche perfume lovers. He also participated in the Renegades project alongside other perfume legends, confirming his status as an eternal innovator and an important figure in the perfume community. His biography is one of constant movement, a search for new forms and meanings in the world of fragrances.
