Jorge Lee is a Colombian perfumer whose name has become synonymous with complex, emotional, and hedonistic fragrances in the world of niche perfumery. His journey from bank clerk to sought-after "nose" for premium brands is a story of passion finding its outlet. By turning dreams into aromatic compositions, Lee has earned a reputation as a master whose signature style is recognizable from Istanbul to Dubai.
Born and raised in Bogota, Jorge Lee began by studying economics at the prestigious Los Andes University, then pursued a career in banking. A fateful meeting with a recruiter from Quest International (now part of the giant Givaudan), who was looking for talent for perfume marketing, changed his life. So, in 1996, the economist plunged into the world of fragrances, where he gradually discovered his true calling. At first, he evaluated other people's creations, but by 2000, he was already creating his own fragrances, laying the foundation for future masterpieces.
The real breakthrough came after he moved to the Turkish perfume company MG Gülçiçek, where Lee was able to focus entirely on his own fragrances. His debut work for the world of luxury fragrances was Maya for the Scents of Time brand, presented back in 2008. However, it was his fruitful collaboration with the Spanish house Ricardo Ramos Perfumes de Autor that brought him widespread fame. For this brand, the master created a cult line of digital fragrances, including the sensual No. 7 For Her, the charismatic No. 21 For Him, and the universal No. 69 Unisex.
In 2017, Jorge Lee's moment of glory came on the international stage thanks to his work with the Turkish niche flagship Nishane. He is responsible for such bestsellers as the juicy citrus-oak-moss Hacivat, the playful fougère Karagoz, and the delicate floral-amber Zenne. These compositions not only joined the ranks of iconic perfumes, but also demonstrated the incredible versatility of the perfumer's talent.
Jorge Lee's style is a bold play of contrasts, where the luxury of oriental accords meets a modern structure and crystal-clear lines. He masterfully balances intensity and lightness, creating fragrances with a bright character and impeccable longevity. In addition to his hits for Nishane, his top works include the sensual fleur d'orange and sandalwood in Serenade for Navitus Parfums, the languid saffron and leather Safran Colognise, and the exotic Scent of Paradise for the Middle Eastern brand Alghabra Parfums.
Jorge Lee has become a bridge between different perfume cultures, combining Latin American passion, European elegance, and Eastern richness. His work for Galleria Parfums and Calaj only confirms this unique status. Today, living and working in Istanbul, he continues to influence the industry, and his fragrances are invariably the subject of heated discussion and high praise among connoisseurs. Lee's portfolio is a real journey for true fragrance gourmets, where each composition tells its own unique story.
