Quality control in perfumery: how fragrances are tested
We are used to thinking of perfume as pure art: the perfumer's inspiration, a beautiful story, a bot...
Introducing Undergreen Black, a fragrance born in 2011 from the creative partnership of two visionary photographers.
More than just a perfume, it is an olfactory snapshot capturing the contrasts of the modern city.
Released as an eau de parfum, it immediately caught the attention of niche fragrance connoisseurs with its boldness and depth.
This unisex fragrance belongs to the spicy and woody families, and its noticeable trail will ensure you do not go unnoticed.
This daring accord was created by perfumer Fabrice Olivieri, who captured the energy of spices and the nobility of woods in a single bottle.
Undergreen Black is a rebellious fragrance, perfect for evenings out and the colder months. It unfolds like a bold accord, where the warmth of spices meets the smoky depth of woody notes.
It is the choice for those who are not afraid to express their individuality and love to surround themselves with magnetic, memorable compositions.
If you have fallen for Black, be sure to explore similar fragrances: Ajmal Accord Boise, Edgardio Chilini Cafeier, and The Spirit of Dubai Turath.
They share Black's love of spicy and woody facets, yet each reveals them in its own way.
The Undergreen brand was founded in 2011 by two talented photographers, Patrice Cardonoso and Jérôme Bonnet, who decided to bring their visual vision into the world of fragrance.
Their philosophy is to create perfumes that tell stories, capturing moments and emotions. Black is one such story, embodied in a black bottle.

The fragrance is highly persistent and lasts on the skin for up to 8–10 hours, gradually revealing its notes and allowing you to enjoy the full bouquet throughout the day
The scent is clearly present near you, but it does not fill the entire space
The perfume has a rich aroma that will help you stand out from the crowd and create a memorable image
A rich and elegant fragrance that gently unfolds on the skin and lasts most of the day, leaving a delicate trail
Perfumes for the fall and winter seasons often contain notes of vanilla, spices, ambergris, wood, and other warm accords, creating a feeling of comfort and warmth during the cold months
The composition of Undergreen Black is built on contrasts. Top notes of ginger, cinnamon, and black pepper create a spicy, invigorating opening.
At the heart, a sweetly bitter duet of coffee and licorice unfolds, softened by the warmth of tonka beans.
The base is powerful and smoky: birch, incense, guaiac wood, and oud create a long-lasting, enveloping trail.

As for Black Undergreen, yes, it truly is a natural fragrance. It's complex, yet perfectly balanced. At first, there's a sharp hit of pepper and bread crusts, which then soften into a salty woody duet of birch and oud, reminiscent of a heated sauna. Ginger and cinnamon are very quiet, almost unheard due to the powerful phenolic accord. Gradually, the fragrance begins to unfold: the woody notes fill with the sweetness of licorice, coffee, and frankincense, becoming more rounded, but without gourmand nuances. It's similar in mood and brutality to the famous M/Mink by Byredo. Although Black is a completely different fragrance, its heavy wood echoes Gorham's "Ink"
Black can be combined with other fragrances, such as Lalibela by Memo and Un Bois Vanille by Serge Lutens. But it's best to try it neat to truly appreciate its unique beauty)))
