A creator at the intersection of worlds

Filippo Sorcinelli is not just a perfumer. He is an Italian visionary whose work blurs the boundaries between art, music, design, and smell. Having founded the eponymous brand Filippo Sorcinelli, he has become a true auteur in the world of niche perfumery, creating fragrances that are profound, conceptual stories told through scent. His path is unique: a professional organist, a graduate of the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music in Rome, and a designer of liturgical vestments for popes — all of this has shaped his unique style.

From music and liturgy to the art of perfumery

Born in 1975, Sorcinelli has been immersed in the world of art and sacred aesthetics since his youth. His atelier LAVS, founded in 2001, has dressed the highest hierarchs of the Catholic Church, including Pope Francis. It was this experience working with incense, wax, ancient fabrics, and the atmosphere of the temple that became the foundation for his perfumery experiments. In 2013, the world saw his first olfactory work, the fragrance Lavs, which became a bridge between his past and future as a perfumer.

Signature style: depth, emotion, narrative

Filippo Sorcinelli's style can be described as powerful, emotional, and intellectual. He masterfully works with church accords—incense, myrrh, resins—giving them a modern sound. His compositions are often built on contrast: cold stone and living rose, ash and sweetness, light and darkness. Each fragrance is not just a set of notes, but a complete work inspired by music, historical events, or literary images, making his perfumes objects of collection and endless discussion.

The master's best and most iconic fragrances

Sorchinelli's perfumery legacy includes true gems that have won the hearts of connoisseurs. The iconic Lavs is pure incense poetry. The gothic and mysterious Rosa Nigra reveals the dark side of the rose. The piercing Notre-Dame 15.4.2019 captures the tragedy of the Paris cathedral in scent. And works such as the melancholic Ennui Noir or the exquisite Opus 1144 demonstrate the master's incredible range. His latest creations, such as Lascia ch'io pianga or Luce dei Cuori, continue to amaze the perfume community with their depth.

A legacy that inspires

Filippo Sorcinelli has proven that perfumery can be a high art, capable of conveying the most complex human emotions and cultural codes. His influence on contemporary niche perfumery is enormous — he has paved the way for fragrances that are experiences, fragrances that are memories. Each of his works from the UNUM, Extrait de Musique, or Nebbia collections is an invitation to dialogue and reflection. Which Sorchinelli fragrance resonates with you?
