Sylvain Delacourt is a true legend of modern perfumery, whose name has become synonymous with elegance, depth, and impeccable taste. Her unique journey from makeup artist to creative director of one of the world's oldest perfume houses, Guerlain, and then founder of her own niche brand, Sylvaine Delacourte, is a story of dedication to the art of fragrance.

Parisian beginnings and a fateful encounter

Born and raised in the heart of fashion, Paris, Sylvain began her career in the beauty industry as a makeup artist, later mastering marketing. However, her passion for perfumery led her to the prestigious ISIPCA school. It was there that she had a fateful meeting with Jean-Paul Guerlain, who recognized her exceptional talent and invited her to join Guerlain. This decision changed the landscape of perfumery forever.

An era at Guerlain: the birth of iconic fragrances

In 1987, Sylvie took over as head of Guerlain's perfume department and spent the next 29 years as its heart and soul, serving as creative director and lead perfumer. Her signature style—a balance between classic luxury and modern lightness—was embodied in fragrances that became hits at the turn of the millennium. Under her leadership and with her direct involvement, the bold iris and violet Insolence, the delicate and mysterious L'Instant de Guerlain, the refreshing Guerlain Homme, and the flirty icon La Petite Robe Noire were born. She also oversaw the creation of exquisite compositions for the L'Art et la Matiere lines, such as the smoky Bois d'Armenie and the velvety Cuir Beluga, and guided the development of the playful Aqua Allegoria.

Signature notes: vanilla, musk, and sunshine

Sylvain Delacourt's style is a hymn to sensuality and naturalness. She masterfully reveals complex, warm notes, making them surprisingly airy and modern. The perfumer has a particular love for vanilla and musk, considering them the basis for creating multifaceted, enveloping, and intimate accords. This unique approach, honed at Guerlain, later became the DNA of her own brand.

A new chapter: creative freedom in her own brand

In 2016, seeking absolute creative freedom, Sylvain left Guerlain and founded her own niche brand. Her mission is to make the high art of perfumery more accessible and personal to connoisseurs. She doesn't just create perfumes, she invites you to explore selected themes through entire olfactory collections, each of which reveals an ingredient from unexpected angles.

Three iconic collections by Sylvaine Delacourte

Today, the brand is represented by three perfume series, each of which has gained recognition from the community. The Muscs collection presents five facets of musk — from pure and leathery to floral. The Vanilla Collection, which includes, for example, the spicy Vanori and the sensual Vangelis, proves that vanilla is not just sweetness, but a whole universe of nuances. Fleur d'Oranger is dedicated to the orange blossom, offering interpretations ranging from the sunny and spicy Vahina to the elegant and woody Virgile.

Sylvain Delacourt continues to inspire the world of perfumery, remaining a bridge between great heritage and bold discoveries. Her fragrances, whether iconic creations for Guerlain or intimate masterpieces from her own house, are always a story told with incredible subtlety and love for her craft.
