Description of the composition

The composition of Oud is shaped as a cohesive olfactory arc, where accents shift without rush and without gaps. The style of Aaron Terence Hughes is recognizable in the pacing of the notes and the overall aesthetic. No excess details, only what works, and the fragrance holds its character from opening to trail. Eau de parfum sets a balanced rhythm of unfolding.

As soon as the fragrance opens you sense dry leather opening note: Leather accord. Exactly this 1 note sets the effect of expensive suede that gives the fragrance a clear opening statement.

When the opening settles you notice Ambergris and Damask Rose carrying a softly spicy direction.

The accord architecture is shaped by these accords: Floral, Musc, Wood and Amber forming a compact and readable structure. Additional accords such as Leather expand the olfactory volume in the background.

From the group perspective the profile is anchored in Leather, Ambery, Floral and Wood. It also reaches into Musk and Gourmet. Within olfactory families the composition sits in East.

Taken together Oud sounds complete from start to finish — the opening sets direction, the central phase adds depth, and the final phase leaves a stable imprint. This is the type of composition best experienced on skin.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Very conspicuous

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

It's an interesting combo, but you can definitely feel the restraint. The 'East' here feels more like a colonial style, almost made for a European palate. The scent of polished wood mixes with leather and the freshness of morning roses. Can't tell if I like it or not!!
