Arte Profumi Corylus — a niche gourmand fragrance

Arte Profumi Corylus is a unisex 2024 fragrance presented in parfum concentration, also known as extrait.

This expressive composition comes from the Italian niche house Arte Profumi, which appeared on the fragrance map in 2013 and grew out of the Iannone family’s boutique culture.

The fragrance combines gourmand, amber, floral, fruity, green, musky and spicy facets.

The name Corylus refers to the hazel tree and sets a nutty mood for the composition, yet the fragrance is far from simply sweet.

It blends dry spiciness, a soft grain-like texture, cool iris and a clean musky-amber base.

As a result, the perfume feels cozy, unusual and distinctive all at once.

Character and development on the skin

At first, Corylus opens brightly and spicily: anise and clove add a distinctive sharpness to the accord, while pear brings a juicy fruity nuance.

Wheat softens the opening, creating an impression of warm grain, a dry bready nuance and quiet naturalness.

As it develops, hazelnut comes to the fore — soft, slightly creamy and delicately sweet.

It is joined by iris and rice, which make the heart more powdery, smooth and airy, preventing the gourmand accord from becoming heavy.

In the drydown, amber and white musk form a dense, clean and long-lasting cloud.

Arte Profumi Corylus has very strong sillage, so the fragrance can quickly make its presence known in a space.

The extrait is especially well suited to those who enjoy rich compositions with a noticeable presence and a lingering finish.

Its character unfolds gradually, so the impression during the first few minutes may differ considerably from the way the base smells.

Who Corylus is for and when to wear it

As a unisex fragrance, Corylus is not confined by strict gender boundaries: on one person’s skin it may emphasize spicy, grain-like dryness; on another, the softness of hazelnut, iris and white musk.

It is a choice for those seeking an unconventional gourmand perfume without straightforward caramel sweetness.

The composition feels especially at home in cool weather, in the evening and on occasions that call for an expressive fragrance statement.

Because of its very strong sillage, it should be applied sparingly, especially before work meetings, journeys and visits to small enclosed spaces.

No precise recommendations for the number of sprays on skin or clothing have been provided for this release.

Corylus in the Arte Profumi style

Corylus reflects the brand’s interest in tactile, multilayered compositions in which familiar ingredients receive a more artistic interpretation.

Here, fruity and spicy accents merge with grainy, powdery and musky nuances to create a distinctive niche profile.

The perfumer behind Corylus is not identified in the available information, so the composition cannot be accurately attributed to a specific creator. Other concentrations of this fragrance have not been announced either.

To explore a direction with a similar overall mood, consider Nina Ricci L'Air du Temps; other possible points of comparison include Guy Laroche Fidji and Courrèges Blanc de Courrèges.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

Real gourmand - baked goods, cookies, dessert. I'm a fan of such scents, but this is overkill. Similar to Penettone, but price is high. For a cozy evening at home, not for going out
