Sugar Addict — a sweet provocation by BORNTOSTANDOUT

BORNTOSTANDOUT Sugar Addict is an eau de parfum released in 2023 for those who see sweetness not as a carefree dessert, but as an expressive element of style.

This unisex fragrance belongs to the oriental and gourmand families, combining appetizing notes of cocoa, coffee, vanilla, and sugar with spicy and balsamic nuances.

The release reflects the character of BORNTOSTANDOUT, an avant-garde Seoul-based brand that entered the niche perfume scene in 2022.

Its aesthetic is built on bold ideas, contrasts, and a refusal to follow conventional rules, which makes Sugar Addict noticeable, modern, and subtly audacious.

The fragrance’s character and development

At the heart of the composition is a rich gourmand accord in which sweet sugar and vanilla take on greater depth through coffee, cocoa, and rum.

Cinnamon adds spicy warmth, while labdanum and cashmeran make the overall impression denser, softer, and slightly more sensual.

Sugar Addict does not try to be transparent or minimalist: it is an enveloping fragrance with a distinctive texture.

It may evoke a cozy coffee shop, a spiced dessert, or an evening drink, but dry woody-musky nuances keep it from turning into a one-dimensional sweet syrup.

The composition was created by Anne-Sophie Behaghel.

In her interpretation, the gourmand notes acquire a more mature, niche character: the dessert theme is surrounded by warm, resinous, and spicy accents that give the fragrance depth and personality.

Who and when Sugar Addict is for

Positioned as a unisex perfume, it feels equally natural on women and men.

It will appeal to fans of sweet oriental compositions, coffee fragrances, and vanilla-spicy accords, especially those looking not merely for a pleasant scent, but for a perfume persona with a distinct mood.

The best time for Sugar Addict is the cool autumn, winter, and early spring, when its warm gourmand facets unfold with particular coziness.

It is suitable for evenings out, dates, gatherings with friends, and leisurely walks, although moderate application allows it to be worn during the day as well.

Sillage and application recommendations

Sugar Addict has moderate sillage: the fragrance is noticeable within a comfortable radius, but should not instantly fill the entire surrounding space.

On skin, it is best applied by “walking into the cloud” so that the composition settles softly and evenly; on clothing, one or two sprays are sufficient.

Skin warmth will enhance the vanilla, tonka bean, and spicy nuances, while the sugar-cocoa and resinous facets may linger longer on fabric.

As with any sweet perfume, its perception will depend on temperature, humidity, and individual skin chemistry.

Similar fragrances to explore

If you enjoy Sugar Addict’s gourmand side, take a look at Montale Chocolate Greedy, with its focus on chocolate.

You can also compare it with Hermès Ambre Narguile, which features honeyed, spicy oriental motifs, or Mugler A*Men Pure Tonka, built around a warm tonka bean accord.

Sugar Addict is an excellent choice for those seeking a sweet niche fragrance with a contrasting character.

It combines the comfort of dessert notes with spicy, coffee, and resinous depth, leaving plenty of room for discussion: some may find the composition seductive and cozy, while others may see it as bold and deliberately intense.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Another openly gourmand scent from this brand, though almost all of them are like that. Here it's about sugar and some kind of sweet addiction. For people who can't live without desserts. The sugar smells toasted to me, with a little sweet coffee, cocoa, or maybe all of it at once. It reminded me of a similar sugary scent from Arte Profumi
