Fragrance information:

Immerse yourself in the world of Byredo with the fragrance Cuir Obscur, which since its release in 2016 has become a symbol of mysterious elegance.

This versatile perfume, released in the concentration of Eau de Parfum, is perfect for those seeking a bold and intimate accessory that can highlight individuality in any situation.

Identity and Release History of Cuir Obscur

Cuir Obscur, which translates to "Dark Leather," is a creation of the Swedish perfume house Byredo, known for its minimalist approach and deep emotional narratives.

Released in 2016, the fragrance quickly gained recognition among niche perfume enthusiasts due to its unisex character and belonging to the Oriental and Leather families.

This is not just a perfume, but a story told through the lens of contrasts: tenderness and strength, light and shadow.

Positioning and Character of the Fragrance

The moderate sillage makes Cuir Obscur an ideal choice for evening events or special occasions where an atmosphere of mystery and refinement is required.

As a unisex fragrance, it breaks gender stereotypes, offering both men and women the opportunity to experience its multifaceted nature.

Thanks to a balanced pyramid, the fragrance gently unfolds on the skin, starting with sweet and spicy notes, transitioning to a floral heart, and ending with a deep, sensual base, making it complimentary and recognizable in a crowd.

For optimal perception, it is recommended to apply the fragrance to warm areas of the skin, such as the wrists and neck, where it will gradually evolve throughout the day.

Its moderate longevity allows you to enjoy the nuances without the need for frequent reapplication, making Cuir Obscur a practical companion in your perfume collection.

Creators and Creation Philosophy

Behind the creation of Cuir Obscur is the visionary Ben Gorham, founder of Byredo, whose unique background in art and sport brings unexpected perspectives to fragrances.

His approach to perfumery as a form of self-expression is reflected in this release, where leather notes symbolize durability, and oriental accents add warmth and sensuality.

This fragrance strengthens the brand's reputation as a pioneer in creating emotionally charged compositions that resonate with a contemporary audience.

Note Pyramid Cuir Obscur

The fragrance pyramid of Cuir Obscur begins with an intriguing start, where Amaretto and Nutmeg create a sweet-spicy chord, inviting a journey through contrasting aromatic landscapes.

In the heart of the composition, delicate and exotic notes unfold: Rose adds classical elegance, while Ylang-ylang brings tropical sensuality, balancing between floral softness and spicy depth.

The base of the fragrance is rooted in powerful and earthy chords: Leather accord provides longevity and character, while Patchouli and Musk complete the composition with a warm, enveloping trail that lingers on the skin.

This harmony of notes makes Cuir Obscur multifaceted and memorable, perfectly suited for those who appreciate complex perfume stories.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

where do you find this perfume? where do all these reviews come from? it looks like it's impossible to get at all. it's not in online stores, I haven't seen it in decants either, and I haven't even heard of it in regular stores. and suddenly there are four reviews here

How pleasant it is to feel this scent! Bright, sweet flowers with a light accent of alcohol, leather, and spices create an amazing combination. Patchouli in the base sounds simply magnificent. This perfume is truly rich and complex, it fills the space with its brightness. Longevity is excellent, and the sillage is simply captivating!

The scent is heavy, with notes of alcohol and powder, and bitter patchouli in the base. This is definitely not for me. Honestly, I have a complicated relationship with this brand

This perfume delights us again with notes of alcohol, and, you know, I really liked it. The alcohol here sounds like something exquisite. The fragrance is unusual and memorable 😌

The rose here is bright, rich, and patchouli with leather create an interesting cocktail. Amaretto revolves around all of this. Alcohol notes in perfumery don't really appeal to me, to be honest. The fragrance is truly rich and complex, but, alas, not for me

The scent turned out to be quite difficult to perceive and wear. It's floral, with warm spices and resins, and also a noticeable note of whiskey. It smells quite rich and with a slight sourness. Honestly, I felt uncomfortable with it 😅
