Identity and Inspiration of Byredo Unnamed

Released in 2016, Byredo Unnamed is a unisex fragrance that challenges traditions while remaining true to the brand's artistic philosophy.

Known in Russia as "Byredo Unnamed," this perfume embodies the minimalism and emotional depth characteristic of Byredo, a house founded by former basketball player and artist Ben Gorham in Stockholm in 2006.

Belonging to the Woody family, Unnamed offers a unique blend of notes that invites personal exploration and interpretation.

Positioning and Character of the Fragrance

As a unisex perfume, Byredo Unnamed is suitable for any gender, offering flexibility and modernity in use.

Its concentration is Eau de Parfum, which ensures longevity and richness, while low sillage makes it ideal for intimate gatherings or office settings, where subtlety is most valued.

This fragrance unfolds gradually, starting with fresh accords and transitioning into a warm, cozy base, making it suitable for cool seasons or evening outings.

Creators and Philosophy Behind Unnamed

Two outstanding perfumers worked on the creation of Byredo Unnamed: Ben Gorham, the brand's founder, and Jérôme Epinette, known for his collaborations with niche houses.

Their joint work reflects Byredo's pursuit of innovation and emotional impact, turning perfumery into art.

Unnamed, as the name suggests, offers freedom of interpretation, allowing each wearer to find their own meaning in its composition, which perfectly fits the brand's DNA, where memory and individuality play a key role.

Description of the composition

The note pyramid of Byredo Unnamed starts with the top notes: Gin and Pink pepper (red berries), which create a refreshing and slightly spicy start, reminiscent of a cocktail in a stylish bar.

In the heart of the composition, Iris and Violet unfold, adding delicate floral elegance and powdery softness that softens the initial sharpness.

The base consists of Fir resin (balsam) and Moss, providing a deep, earthy, and cozy foundation that lasts long on the skin.

This composition masterfully combines balsamic, drinkable, earthy, floral, and spicy note groups, creating a multifaceted and memorable fragrance.

Unfolding from freshness to warmth, Unnamed invites you on a journey through a forest after rain, where each layer adds a new dimension to the overall impression.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

This fragrance just blows your mind! It's mossy, with a bitter nuance and powdery notes, complemented by a light touch of pepper. The longevity is excellent, and its multifaceted nature is simply astounding. It has a great sillage, leaving a pleasant aftertaste. The quality is top-notch, it truly sounds solid and confident 🌟

The smell reminds me of fir, and that's it. Too monotonous and unexpressive. It seems more for men. It brings to mind colognes from the past, like the ones Sasha and Pasha used to wear

Unfortunately, it didn't work out for us. The smell is too bitter and resinous, with sharp notes reminiscent of gin. I don't like alcoholic accents in perfumery when they are so pronounced

The fragrance is undoubtedly intelligent, but it seems too light and even faded. Femininity is present, but it lacks depth. Forest violet, yes, but the mossy forest doesn't evoke any emotions. It seems there's too much fir, and they overwhelm with their presence. This scent doesn't paint pictures, but rather leaves a feeling of emptiness

I stumbled upon a YouTube video comparing Unnamed by Byredo and Roses on Ice by Kilian. At that time, I was really into the latter and looking for something similar to "gin". The juniper in these fragrances is cold and sharp, that's for sure. But Kilian, in my opinion, is more long-lasting and leaves a trail, it feels lighter and more refreshing thanks to the floral and cucumber notes. Byredo, on the other hand, feels denser and warmer, with a woody-powdery accent that gives it a special depth. I remember looking for something that could bring back those feelings, but alas, all that is in the past now

The scent seems to no longer be limited edition and is now in the main collection! 🎉 You can find it in stores. From my impressions, the new versions smell softer and lighter compared to the previous ones 😊

This scent is definitely not ordinary. It's hard to understand, but it has something alluring about it. Sometimes I detect notes of fir, and sometimes a light powderiness. Another time, trying it, I realize it's not that great. Sometimes there's too much powder, and too much moss too. The alcoholic nuances aren't pleasing either. In short, I can't make up my mind yet. The mystery without a name only adds to the intrigue ))

I can't say this scent impressed me. It's somehow too cold and harsh. Mostly, I feel notes of pine needles and wood, and the floral accents just get lost, as if they were never there. The powdery nuance isn't pleasing either, it's somewhat vague and unexpressive. All in all, this is definitely not for me!!!

How sad this is. I remember the smell of a forest where spruce trees are enveloped in a light cloud of powder and gin. The scent is really interesting, but not crude, rather, it's intelligent and refined. There's a slight bitterness and fizz in it, which gives it a special zest. But the problem is that it's just a limited edition, and the price for it is simply exorbitant. Acquiring it becomes a real challenge ))

The scent is light, but unfortunately, it doesn't leave a strong impression. It reminds me of something familiar, but I can't quite pinpoint what. The floral notes that could add life are missing here. It's like something important is lost, and there's nothing to latch onto. Faceless, as if devoid of character. It seems that to please everyone, the fragrance became too neutral. Overall, it's pleasant, but unlikely to hold a special place in my collection 😔
