The History and Character of the Fragrance

Essential Imperial Saffron is an oriental unisex eau de parfum launched in 2019.

It was created by the Essential brand, founded in 2015 under the Italian sun and built around a philosophy of purity, essence and the expressiveness of a fragrance composition.

The name Imperial Saffron immediately sets the mood: this is a rich, spicy and charismatic perfume with saffron at its heart.

The fragrance does not try to be neutral or discreet — its character unfolds with warmth, depth and nobility, combining oriental luxury with modern simplicity.

Olfactive Profile

Amber, balsamic, floral, fruity, leathery, musky, spicy and woody facets intertwine in the composition.

As a result, Imperial Saffron smells multifaceted: it combines dry spice, soft sweetness, smoky-woody depth and a sensual leathery nuance.

The main accent is saffron, which lends the fragrance a golden spiciness and a light mineral dryness.

Alongside it, rose is especially expressive: it does not make the fragrance overtly floral, but adds velvety softness and subtle elegance.

How It Develops on the Skin

Imperial Saffron opens energetically and spicily: cinnamon, coriander and cumin create a warm, slightly dry and distinctive accord.

Rose and saffron soften the spices, adding radiance and floral roundness to the composition.

As it develops, the fragrance becomes denser and deeper.

Benzoin and dates bring a resinous sweetness, iris adds powdery smoothness, while nagarmotha and rosewood create a dry woody facet.

In the base, amber, tobacco, a leather accord, musk and noble woods leave a warm, enveloping and noticeable trail.

Longevity, Sillage and Dosage

The fragrance has noticeable sillage: Imperial Saffron is easily perceived by those around you, especially during the first few hours after application.

This is neither an intimate nor a purely close-to-the-skin perfume, so it is well suited to occasions when you want to make an impression — evening outings, meetings, celebrations and cool-weather walks.

The optimal amount for the skin is 1–2 sprays: this is enough for the rich eau de parfum to make an expressive impression.

You can apply 2–3 sprays to clothing, after first testing the fabric’s reaction on an inconspicuous area.

In cool weather, the spices, amber and woody notes smell especially beautiful, while in autumn and winter the composition reveals its greatest depth and volume.

Who Essential Imperial Saffron Is For

The fragrance is presented as unisex and can sound equally harmonious on women’s and men’s skin.

It will appeal to those who enjoy oriental compositions with a spicy heart, a warm amber base and pronounced sillage, and who are looking for a perfume for a particular mood rather than for every occasion.

Imperial Saffron will be especially appreciated by lovers of saffron, leather, tobacco and noble woody nuances.

If you would like to continue exploring a rich oriental aesthetic, consider The Spirit of Dubai Fakhama and The Spirit of Dubai Oud, while the closest reference for comparison is The Spirit of Dubai Turath.

The Fragrance’s Place in the Essential Style

This release reflects the Essential brand’s philosophy particularly well: rather than overloading the scent with random effects, it highlights key materials and allows them to unfold in a pure, cohesive form.

Despite its rich note pyramid, the composition feels focused and harmonious — from the spicy opening to the soft leather-and-wood base.

There is no information about the perfumer, the collection or other concentrations of this fragrance, so Imperial Saffron is best assessed through its own olfactive character.

This is an expressive oriental perfume for those who appreciate warm, spicy and noticeable fragrances with a sense of modern luxury.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

Adding to my review. In a warmer, more humid climate it smells much more intense. It's no longer just a clean scent, but dense and noticeable: dates, cumin and woody notes can be heard. In the end, it became one of my favorites

For those who suit cedars and irises, but not soapy scents. Cleanliness without soap, with apricot kernel. Light, delicate, not cloying
