Fragrance information:

1991: the world took its first breath of Private Number Etienne Aigner. This is a feminine fragrance rooted in the fruit and floral families. By character, it falls into the spicy, sweet, and ambery groups. The palette of this fragrance is exceptionally rich: traces of wood, fruit, and whiteflower can also be found — a rare combination that makes this perfume truly one of a kind. An eau de toilette — light-footed, but utterly unforgettable.

The sillage is very delicate — an intimate cloud that stays close to the skin. A light touch on clothing — 1-2 sprays — is all it takes. It's a light presence — longevity is low, perfect for those who love something airy. Country of origin — France. Private Number Etienne Aigner unfolds gradually, effortlessly, and with great refinement — a perfect choice for day or evening.

Perfume information

Description of the composition

The note pyramid of Private Number unfolds as a layered story, where layers reveal themselves smoothly and sequentially. The signature of Etienne Aigner comes through in the way notes appear and fade. Every decision feels deliberate, and the fragrance holds its character from opening to trail. Eau de toilette emphasizes the depth and body this composition needs.

The accord architecture rests on these accords: Aromatic, Citrus, Gourmet and Floral with each one in a clear role. Background accords such as Fruit, Musc, Wood and Powdery enrich the profile without taking over. The stylistic positioning is feminine, which clarifies the composition character. In wear duration Low points to a sustained drydown presence.

In the first seconds you meet crisp leafy first notes: Galbanum, Green Chord, Hyacinth and Mandarin.

In the central layer you notice Clove, Honey, Iris, Jasmine, Lily of the Valley and Narcissus carrying a harmonious floral direction.

From the group perspective the structure relies on Ambery, Fruit, Spicy and Sweet. The palette also extends to Whiteflower, Wood, Green and Floral.

In summary Private Number reads as a cohesive composition — the first stage creates momentum, the heart develops the core line, while the drydown anchors the memory.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Extremely inconspicuous

I received this scent in an exchange, and the first thing that came to mind was some strange déjà vu… It's familiar to me, as if I've encountered it somewhere before. It reminds me of Boucheron in the round bottle. It opens with fresh notes with a slight tartness… I can't even tell what exactly sounds like that. But, unlike Boucheron, which can be suffocating, this fragrance is much softer. A pleasant freshness of greens or grass… and there's something else, but I can't quite pinpoint it. I'll keep trying it… maybe it will unfold differently over time or reveal new facets… 🌿

What a terrible fragrance this is! No originality, just a set of familiar notes. On me, it smells like a mix of honey with something cloying and heavy, and the flowers and herbs only add to this tedious heaviness. The base, of course, is soft, but that doesn't save the situation. Honestly, I don't understand why it's praised so much. I was looking for something interesting, but stumbled upon this disappointment. And yes, I'm not sure if modern versions are any better. Better not to waste time on such things ))
