Identity and Release History

In 1990, the world of perfumery was enriched with a bright novelty – Parfums Grès Paris Cabotine.

Released in 1990, this fragrance quickly became a symbol of an era where French elegance meets modern cheerfulness.

It is part of the Cabotine collection and embodies the DNA of the brand Parfums Grès Paris, whose history began in the 1930s with the brilliant Alix Grès and her sculptural dresses.

Cabotine is more than just a perfume; it is a journey into a garden of senses, where each note tells its own story.

Its release in the 1990s coincided with a revival of interest in complex floral and chypre compositions, making it timely and in demand among perfume connoisseurs.

Positioning and Wearability

Parfums Grès Paris Cabotine is positioned as a feminine fragrance created for confident and elegant girls.

In the form of eau de toilette, it offers comfortable wear with a noticeable trail that will accompany you throughout the day without overwhelming those around you.

The fragrance belongs to the chypre and floral families, making it multifaceted: from classical depth to light playfulness.

It is perfect for spring and summer days, as well as for special occasions where it is necessary to emphasize individuality and passion.

Information on recommended dosage on skin or clothing is not available, but thanks to its moderate concentration, it easily adapts to personal preferences – a few sprays are enough to create the desired effect and lasting impression.

Authors and Influence

The creator of this impressive fragrance was the talented perfumer Jean-Claude Delville, whose skill helped bring the complex composition to life.

His work on Cabotine reflects a deep understanding of floral notes and chypre chords, harmoniously fitting into the heritage of the brand Parfums Grès Paris.

Cabotine has become one of the key fragrances for Parfums Grès Paris, strengthening the reputation of the house as a creator of refined and memorable perfumes.

Its success influenced subsequent releases, inspiring experiments with floral themes in combination with spicy and woody elements, which continues to attract new fans.

Description of the composition

The fragrance pyramid of Cabotine is a true journey through a garden of senses, beginning with juicy top notes: blackcurrant, cassia, coriander, orange flower, peach flower, plum and tangerine, creating a fruity-spicy explosion that instantly lifts the mood.

In the heart of the fragrance, a rich bouquet of flowers unfolds: clove, freesia, ginger, heliotrope, jasmine, rose, tuberose, violet and ylang-ylang, adding depth, tenderness, and sensuality that captivate for hours.

The base completes the composition with warm and long-lasting chords: blackcurrant returns, combining with cedar, civet, sandalwood, tonka bean, vetiver and musk, leaving behind a memorable trail that speaks of your confidence and style.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

How delighted I am with this fragrance!))) I completely forgot I'd already left a comment, and here I am writing my review again)

Unfortunately, I can't give this fragrance more than two stars. And I don't even know why. When I tried it, after all the rave reviews, I experienced complete disappointment. The smell turned out to be very chemical and bitter. That's how it is

This fragrance is a bit mysterious for me. It really grabs attention and looks beautiful. But, it seems to have too many components, and my nose can't handle this complexity. Tuberose is certainly present here, but it's not as sweet and creamy as usual. Rather, it's green, as if the composition has more fresh leaves than flowers 🌿

I've heard so much about this fragrance, but I still couldn't find it. Where can I get it now? Only online, really? ))

The scent is rich, floral-musky, simply gorgeous! It really emphasizes femininity, and I happily wear it. I use it with great pleasure!!!

If anyone wants to understand what a floral chypre should be, this is it - Cabotine. It's a cold and beautiful scent with incredible longevity. It's so vintage, words simply fail. Practically ideal, but it's important to apply it correctly. If you overdo it, you can ruin even the best perfume. But if you use it wisely, honeyed hyacinths, tuberose, and all the charms of this luxurious fragrance will unfold. By the way, the pine needles here are surprisingly sweet - another pleasant surprise. This fragrance is self-sufficient and requires a suitable approach. Why apply such a work of art if you can't wear anything but sweet fruit compotes? Despite its accessibility, this perfume is true art, and it should be treated accordingly

This fragrance, of course, looks beautiful and smells delicate, but its longevity is just insane! I used to wear it a long time ago, but recently I wanted it again, so I bought the biggest bottle. But, damn, what a disappointment! The scent isn't what it used to be. Maybe I'm the one who changed, but the tuberose just suffocates all the other notes!! It overpowers everything, and it becomes unbearable

It reminds me of some old, overused scent that everyone's already tired of. It's too straightforward and sharp. On the elbow, it smells better than on the neck, but it still doesn't impress. From the hand, it seems more appealing, but from the neck, it just bursts out. Overall, something strange and irritating

The scent from the bottle delights with a tart green accent with a slight bitterness, but on my skin, it unfolds completely differently - without greenery, but with floral-honey notes, despite the "green" style packaging. I don't smell blackcurrant leaves at all. Two main notes clearly stand out here - honey and beeswax. This fragrance reminds me of Red Door by Arden with its honeyed quality. However, when I tested it on my wrists, it became clear that Cabotine is much softer and more floral compared to Red Door

What a wonderful and light fragrance! It's so memorable, it just won't let go. It adds incredible chic, and even the most modest girl starts to glow like a true lady 🌸 Yes, I'd say it's specifically for ladies, as there's something retro in the scent that adds a bit of age. But I can't imagine it on a more mature woman; it's as if it's made for those moments when you want to look older, but still retain all the charm of youth. It's simply a delicate bouquet of fresh white flowers with a light green note. And the currant in it sounds absolutely amazing… Bright and playful! This fragrance is true spring, like the first floral wreath after a long winter! 🌼
