Identity and Release History

The fragrance Hugo Boss Hugo, also known as Hugo Eau de Toilette, was introduced to the world in 1995 and quickly became iconic in the brand's lineup.

This perfume is part of the Hugo collection, reflecting the dynamic and modern spirit that characterizes Hugo Boss – a German fashion house founded in 1923, symbolizing elegance and success.

Since its release, Hugo Boss Hugo has won the hearts of fans thanks to its fresh and energetic character, perfectly embodying the style of the 90s and remaining relevant to this day.

Positioning and Wearability

This fragrance is positioned as masculine and is available in the concentration of eau de toilette, making it light and versatile for everyday use.

The sillage of Hugo Boss Hugo is rated as medium, providing noticeable but unobtrusive presence suitable for the office, dates, or informal meetings.

For optimal application, pointwise application on the skin is recommended, such as on the wrists and neck, to allow the fragrance to unfold naturally.

On clothing, you can use the walk into the cloud method by spraying the perfume in the air and walking through it, creating a light and lasting effect.

Hugo Boss Hugo belongs to the fougère and green families, giving it a classic base with refreshing notes ideal for the spring-summer season.

Creator and Influence

The creator of this fragrance is the talented perfumer Bob Aliano, who managed to harmoniously blend traditional elements with modern accents.

His work on Hugo Boss Hugo strengthened the brand's reputation as a creator of quality and stylish perfumes, appealing to a youth audience and connoisseurs of classics.

The influence of this release on Hugo Boss is significant: it helped establish the brand in the men's perfume market and inspired the creation of subsequent fragrances in the Hugo collection, preserving the DNA of dynamism and elegance.

Description of the composition

The note pyramid of Hugo Boss Hugo begins with a refreshing burst of top notes, including apple, basil, grapefruit, lavender and mint, creating an energetic and invigorating first impression.

At the heart of the fragrance, floral and aromatic chords unfold with clove, geranium, jasmine and sage, adding depth and warmth to the composition.

The base consists of woody notes: cedar, patchouli and spruce, ensuring longevity and providing an earthy, cozy finish.

This layered structure allows the fragrance to develop smoothly on the skin, transitioning from citrus freshness to floral tenderness and ending with woody solidity.

The notes are grouped into categories such as aromatic, citrus, floral, green and woody, highlighting its complex and balanced character.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

How great that I finally decided to buy this fragrance after 25 years! It really stands out from all those sweet and sour scents that are so popular now. No oily or floral spice like many classic fragrances from the 60s-80s. This perfume is simply chic! Masculine, green, and with amazing longevity, its sillage is powerful, just mesmerizing. I used to be against Hugo Boss, thought it was something cheap, but now I have two bottles from this brand, and I'm absolutely thrilled! If you're looking for a great men's perfume, definitely try it. It's 100% masculine, not even a hint of unisex. Simply super! ))

the fragrance reminds of times when real men's perfumes had their own character. this is truly a classic worth trying. I gave it to my brother, and he was delighted

When it first came out, only one thought ran through my head - "wow, how great this is". The smell of a real man, confident, rich and bright, yet fresh. However, with each new fragrance from Hugo Boss, it becomes more dreary and lifeless

A true classic that never goes out of style. A fragrance that takes you back to a time when men's perfumes weren't overloaded with sweetness. This is an excellent choice for real men. Longevity is top-notch, and the fresh sillage is simply delightful 💪

This fougère is, of course, a recognizable scent. Green moss, clove, sage, and, of course, fir trees. In the nineties, many men on the subway smelled like this. For me, this fragrance is still quite wearable, even if it seems a bit outdated. But there are people who simply can't stand it, they grimace and walk away. That's worth considering. It certainly wouldn't suit a business meeting or a date, but for work or trips to the dacha - it's perfect! 😊 Let the bottle stand, maybe someday it will be called a masterpiece 😊

Hugo Boss perfume makes me think of a bright green color, although, to be honest, I'm not a fan of green. When I tested it on a blotter, it just seemed like a green scent, and nothing more… But despite that, I really like it! It's truly a unique smell that adds a light spicy tartness at all stages of its development. And it's not sharp, but rather very soft and pleasant. Upon application, you immediately feel the freshness of green apple, and a little later, a coniferous-floral accord appears. The scent is long-lasting and has good sillage, but it's not too intrusive 🌿

I tried the Red fragrance from Hugo Boss, and it brought back memories of old perfumes… this feeling is especially vivid against the backdrop of modern scents. Perfumery used to be made at a truly high level. The scent is classic and brutal, but, honestly, I don't see the point in buying it… its time seems to have passed(((( although the quality is really top-notch… 😔

The fragrance is truly long-lasting, at first even evoking pleasant, familiar sensations for many. But I definitely won't buy it a second time. It gets boring too quickly, as if it loses its unique charm
