About Jacomo Oud For Men

Jacomo is a house with a bold character and a musical soul, born in 1970 from the union of American business and French piano artistry.

In 2013, the brand introduced Jacomo Oud For Men, a fragrance that resonates as an ode to the Orient, yet with European elegance.

This is an eau de toilette for men, belonging to the citrus and woody fragrance families.

From the very first seconds, the fragrance plays with contrasts: the freshness of bergamot and lemon intertwines with spicy coriander and resinous rosemary.

At the heart are tart juniper berries, while the base is a true treasure trove: oud, sandalwood, cedar, patchouli, incense, clove, amber, and musk.

This composition is like a journey into the heart of an Arabian night, lifted by a refreshing citrus breeze.

The fragrance was created by perfumer Sébastien Martin, known for his ability to combine the seemingly incompatible. His website, jeanpierresand.com, is a portal into the world of olfactory experimentation.

Jacomo Oud For Men has a subtle trail: it stays close to the skin, inviting an intimate dialogue.

It is the perfect choice for evening dates, business dinners, or days when you want to emphasize your air of mystery.

If you are looking for similar scents, consider Jacomo For Men, a classic from the brand, S.T.

Dupont Oud Et Santal with its woody elegance, or The Merchant of Venice Arabian Myrrh with its rich resins.

Jacomo Oud For Men is more than just a fragrance; it is a statement: “I am sensual yet restrained, strong yet never loud.”

Indulge in the luxury of Oriental spice, captured in a modern bottle with an asymmetrical metal plate.

Description of the composition

The Jacomo Oud For Men olfactory pyramid unfolds gradually. The top notes—bergamot, lemon, spicy coriander, and herbaceous rosemary—create an invigorating, almost grapefruit-like opening.

A heart of juniper berries adds coniferous freshness and a subtle bitterness.

The base is a true odyssey: oud (agarwood) and sandalwood lend a velvety quality; cedar and patchouli provide earthy depth; while incense, clove, amber, and musk bring warmth and sensuality.

The result is a complex yet harmonious woody-spicy accord.

Persistence
The persistence of a fragrance is determined by how long it can be felt. It is a characteristic associated with ingredients that evaporate slowly. Persistence depends on the physical properties of the perfume ingredients—mainly their volatility and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

Sillage
Imagine a light cloud of fragrance that, like an aeroplane trail, remains in the air after your appearance. This is the sillage - a subtle or vivid imprint left by the most diffuse element of a perfume composition. The sillage can be almost invisible when it is felt only by you and those around you. Or it can be so expressive that its presence is noticed even long after you have left.

Complexity and depth
The complexity of a fragrance is the number and variety of notes that create a unique composition. A complex fragrance contains many different notes that reveal themselves on the skin. The depth of a fragrance is the richness and intensity of the fragrance. Fragrances with a deep composition include heavy and powerful notes that stay on the skin longer and affect others over long distances.

Today, it can be confidently said that the "oud fever" that gripped the perfume world in the mid-2000s is gradually subsiding. It's unclear whether this is a temporary remission or a genuine decline in interest in oud, but in the early 2010s, the presence of oud in a brand's collection was considered a sign of good taste and promised profit. Jacomo did not stand aside and in 2013 released a fragrance with a telling name - Jacomo Oud for Men. Interestingly, its price does not exceed the cost of other fragrances from the For Men collection, although there will be no natural oud here, as it remains one of the most expensive perfumery materials. Of course, there is no natural oud in Jacomo Oud for Men. But there is tea. Strong, black pu-erh, with its iodized, woody, and spicy notes. And this did not spoil the composition; on the contrary, it added uniqueness and elegant restraint. The citrus accord is not striking but adds freshness and lightness. The spices do not try to create an oriental character but only emphasize the woody and earthy notes. Jacomo Oud for Men is an oriental composition, but cold, calm, meditative, not seductive, but rather enlightening. Oud? Perhaps, but here it is neat, lifeless, just a part of the overall picture. The mood and character of the original Jacomo for Men are clearly readable. The flanker is not inferior to the original in aesthetics and elegance, but thanks to a brighter character that persists until the end, it seems more interesting and less refined. I'm not sure if lovers of true oud should pay attention to Jacomo Oud for Men, but lovers of perfumed black tea will definitely appreciate the magnificent tannic, black as night, cold pu-erh ☕️
