Description of the composition

The composition of Background is built as a layered story, where accents shift without rush and without gaps. The signature of Jil Sander is evident in the way notes appear and fade. No excess details, only what works, and the fragrance holds its character from opening to trail. Eau de toilette keeps the right density and pace of development.

Right at the start you meet radiant lemon-bergamot opening notes: Anise, Bergamot, Lavender and Lemon. These 4 notes form a burst of citrus freshness that is impossible to miss.

When the opening settles you sense Cinnamon, Clove, Heliotrope, Jasmine, Lily of the Valley and Rose holding a opulent floral direction.

The internal accord map is built around these accords: Aromatic, Citrus, Gourmet and Floral without random overlap. Secondary accord layers such as Fruit, Musc, Wood and Amber enrich the profile without taking over.

From the group perspective the profile is anchored in Spicy, Citrus, Green and Fruit. The palette also extends to Aromatic, Floral, Whiteflower and Ambery.

Taken together Background sounds complete from start to finish — the opening sets direction, the middle layer carries the identity, and the final phase leaves a stable imprint. This is the type of composition best judged on skin.
